Luke Thompson, who portrayed Benedict Bridgerton in the streaming sensation "Bridgerton" since 2020, has managed to keep his personal life on a low profile with the rise of his professional one.

In the first season of the Netflix romance series, there were hints that Benedict might be queer or at least questioning his sexuality. Luke insisted that the series had many seasons left for his part to develop, and it could not all be done in the first episodes.

Furthermore, in the 2023 stage adaptation of Hanya Yanagihara's best seller, "A Little Life," he plays a role that has more overt homosexual leanings. As Willem, he has a relationship with James Norton's Jude.

However, if Luke Thompson is gay, he is not telling. The British-born actor, raised in France, rarely gives in-depth interviews and has not disclosed his sexual orientation. In a March 2023 interview, while speaking about sexuality, he said:

"Why do you have to set the record straight? Let people think what they want to think."

The actor acknowledges the complexity of discussions surrounding identity politics within his industry and can see how LGBTQ+ actors add authenticity to gay parts. But, he said, "...the whole point of acting is that you step into someone else's experience."

It's sort of like those old cameras where, if you opened them at the wrong time, you'd ruin the negative." During the interview, he shied away from even naming his favorite flick.

Luke prefers his privacy so much that he does not have a social media account. The actor said: "For many actors, social media is an ingenious way of continuing the performance. So on some level, I'd love to get involved; I just don't think I can make it work." He elaborated:

"I've realized that a constantly updating platform is not something I feel equipped to deal with; it takes a sledgehammer to my attention span."

The actor wants to be able to focus when he needs to, so social media would take a lot of effort. He also acknowledged that it could be because he was just lazy. His lack of social media presence has helped him guard his privacy.
