Susan Sarandon has been a well-known actress since the 1970s, appearing in movies such as "The Front Page," "Pretty Baby" and "King of the Gypsies."

Sarandon shined in showbiz, but she didn't let this fame overtake her role of being a mother. The actress is a mom of three—Eva Amurri, Jack Robbins, and Miles Robbins.

Sarandon was married to her now ex-husband Chris Sarandon for 12 years. In 1979, the two split, and the actress started dating Franco Amurri, an Italian filmmaker.

Sarandon and the Roman-born producer never tied the know but welcomed their daughter, Eva, in 1985. Sarandon opened up about her unplanned pregnancy with Eva.

As per the movie star, she was diagnosed with endometriosis and told it would be hard for her to have kids. As a result, Sarandon never used birth control for years, and when she met Amurri, she unexpectedly got pregnant with their daughter.

The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" star confessed that her pregnancy didn't sit well with many people:

"I was 38…I found myself pregnant. Everyone's telling me, 'You are crazy. You know your career is going on so well, and you can't have a baby now, and what are you going to do and you barely know this guy.'"

However, Sarandon, who didn't think she could have kids, felt that her pregnancy was meant to happen. She chose to have Eva, whether her father wanted to be part of his child's life or not. Looking back at the choice she made to keep her first child, Sarandon said. "I never had any regrets."

The actress became a parent again when she welcomed her second child Jack in 1989, with Tim Robbins, with whom she got into a relationship in 1988.

The pair welcomed their second child together, Miles, in 1992. Sarandon and Robbins remained a couple for over ten years before separating in 2009.

Where Did Susan Sarandon Raise Her 3 Kids?

Sarandon and Robbins bought a duplex in New York City, where they raised their three kids in a blended family. After they broke up, she gained full ownership of the 6,061-square-foot loft.

As much as Sarandon was against giving her daughter advice about motherhood, she was open to advising all mothers in general.

The actress lived in the stunning home and raised her three kids there for 30 years before she listed the property for $7.9 million. She shared details about the home to Wall Street Journal, noting that she was selling it because, with the kids gone, it was simply too large for her needs.

The duplex had six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. According to the actress, it was a fantastic family home for her and her kids because it had adequate space.

The home, which merges two units, provided enough space and privacy for each family. The units were connected by a curved staircase, that would double up as a seating gallery when watching her children's performances.

Some of the features the home were a den with a wood-burning place, a private gallery foyer, a sunken media lounge, and a forty-three-foot terrace. A unique room in the house called "the Academy Award bath" is actually a blue-painted bathroom.

Sarandon stored all the awards she received throughout her career in this bathroom, such as her Oscar and SAG awards and her Glamour Woman of the Year Award, given to her in 1995.

The "Tammy" star said she expected people to laugh when they left her award-filled bathroom, but they never said a thing. "Maybe they think I'm taking it seriously," she noted.

The stunning home also had enormous windows that gave the family breathtaking views of Manhattan and lots of natural light. Sarandon said the family saw the towers fall during 9/11 from their windows, and the next day, they saw the sun rise again.

Sarandon's home's main bedroom featured an en-suite windowed bath, a balcony, a dressing room, a soaking tub, and large windows that overlooked the city's skyline and Empire State Building.

Other gorgeous parts of the actress's house included a well-spaced kitchen on the lower level of the house, a large dining area, and a media lounge. The actress said the huge living room space was used as a sitting area to watch celebrity dance performances and her kids' performances.

Aside from letting users into the home where she raised her kids, Sarandon has also opened up about motherhood and her advice to new mothers, excluding her daughter.

What Does Susan Sarandon Think About Her Motherhood in Her 70s?

Sarandon is now a grandmother and was excited when her daughter Eva was pregnant with her first grandchild. The actress said she was looking forward to seeing how her daughter would open up to motherhood.

However, she said she wouldn't give Eva any advice about motherhood unless she came to her directly and asked for some tips. Still, Sarandon said she would be there for her daughter whenever she needed someone to take care of her baby or cook.

As much as Sarandon was against giving her daughter advice about motherhood, she was open to advising all mothers in general. The "Maybe I Do" actress told new mothers to be comfortable in their pajamas for a few months.

She asked them not to feel pressured to visit everyone when their child was just a newborn. Sarandon also told mothers to sleep when the baby does.

Sarandon, who is still close to her kids even in her older years, said she would spend time with her grandkids spoiling them. The 76-year-old noted that she wasn't going to teach her grandchildren anything, hoping they would teach her instead and remind her what it's like to start over.

Eva also spoke out about how her mother handled motherhood. She was amazed at how Sarandon handled three kids who were all under seven years old at some point while succeeding in a busy film career.

Eva said her mother must have gone through a challenging time because, as a mother of one, she could also feel the difficulties of motherhood. By 2019, Eva was a mother of two, her daughter Marlowe, and son, Major.

Now, Eva said she tries her best to give her kids the same experiences Sarandon gave her and her siblings growing up. Just like her mother, she has made motherhood her topmost priority.
