Bob Marley’s Grandson Jo Mersa Marley’s Cause of Death Unveiled
Jo Mersa Marley's cause of death has finally been revealed. Joe, who died aged 31, was found unresponsive in his car six months ago. Recent medical reports have unveiled the details surrounding his untimely death.
According to medical records, Jo Mersa Marley, Bob Marley's grandson, passed away due to an acute worsening of asthma, with rhinovirus/enterovirus being noted as a contributing factor. The documents further indicate that the cause of his death was classified as "natural."
The documents also indicated Jo was discovered unresponsive in his vehicle at a store parking lot on December 26. Despite the attempts of first responders to administer CPR, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As per the documents, the Medical Examiner's Office illustrated that the musician had a history of asthma, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Furthermore, the report noted that Jo had not been adhering to his asthma medication at the time of his passing. He died aged 31.
Jo, a celebrated Reggae artist originally from Jamaica but raised in Miami, was mourned by many, including Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Jamaican opposition leader Mark J. Golding, who both took to their respective Twitter pages to convey their condolences.
Jo's family holds his memory dear and has paid heartfelt tributes to ensure that his memory lives on. His uncle Ziggy Marley shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram which read:
"Our beloved Joseph @JoMersaMarley, a father, brother, cousin, nephew, grandchild, friend, son of Ragga #StephenMarley JAH live itinually. You live on within all of us in our thoughts and our hearts. Fly away home, lion 🕊️ You are missed 😢 RASTAFARI."
Jo's love for diverse genres of music was cultivated at an early age. While he embraced his family's rich musical heritage, he was also inspired by legends like Stevie Wonder, Shabba Ranks, Peter Tosh, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Jackson.
Jo, Stephen Marley's son and legendary Bob Marley's grandson, had followed in their footsteps. He was a reggae artist in his own right. He debuted with the release of his first EP, "Comfortable," in 2014.
He followed up with another EP called "Eternal" in 2021. Among his notable tracks are the hit "Burn It Down" from 2016 and "Rock and Swing" featured on the "Comfortable" EP.
The late Reggae artist was a devoted husband and loving father; he occasionally featured his family on Instagram. He is survived by his wife and daughter. Some of his other surviving family members include his famous father, Stephen, and several siblings.
