"I love my father. I am so blessed to have had him in my life for so many years. I will miss him greatly," she wrote alongside a photo of her and her dad.
Tony died aged 96 on Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home in Manhattan, New York. His death was announced through his Instagram page. The message read:
"Tony left us today, but he was still singing the other day at his piano, and his last song was "Because of You," his first #1 hit." Tony, because of you, we have your songs in our hearts forever. ❤"
The legendary singer is survived by his wife, Susan Crow, and his four children, Danny and Dae, whom he shared with his ex-wife, Patricia Beech, and Joanna and Antonia Bennett, whom he shared with ex-wife Sandra Grant.
Antonia, Tony Bennett's youngest daughter, was born on April 7, 1974. She spent her early years in Los Angeles before eventually relocating to New York City. She embraced her father's musical legacy from a young age, joining him in singing performances.
Back in 2016, Tony received the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. In a candid interview, Antonia revealed that she had observed certain indications that something was not right with her father months before the diagnosis.
She expressed she began to notice that whenever they discussed events from their shared life, he father would omit significant parts or create his own version of the story, something that she found unusual.
Antonia and her father have shared a close bond ever since she was a child. In a 1985 interview, Tony praised Antonia's talents and acknowledged she had all the creative elements. Tony even dedicated his 1990 song "Antonia" to her, showcasing their close bond and admiration for her musical abilities.
During the final weeks before his passing, the celebrated singer was seen in a wheelchair, savoring a sunny day in New York's City Central Park, close to his residence.
