Hunter Doohan’s Parents: Facts about Peter Doohan and Angie Harper Carmichael

Hunter Doohan's parents are Peter Doohan and Angie Harper Carmichael. While little is known about his mother, the actor's father was a successful tennis player, and his unfortunate passing from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis sparked his son's dedication to spreading awareness and volunteering.

Hunter Doohan is an American actor commonly known for his role in the popular Netflix series, "Wednesday," "Beware I'm Rare," and "Your Honor." However, the actor is also a loving son and brother off camera.

His parents, Peter Doohan and Angie Harper Carmichael, welcomed two sons during their marriage, and despite later going their separate ways, Hunter Doohan's parents proved they still maintained close relationships with their children.

Who Are Hunter Doohan's Parents?

Peter made a name for himself as a tennis player during the '80s and impressively made it to the final of the Australian Open in 1987 with his men's doubles partner Laurie Warder. Hunter shared:

"I mean, I grew up being around tennis constantly, with my dad working as a tennis pro."

Despite Peter and Hunter's fame, little is known about Angie. According to her Facebook page, she raised her children in Arkansas and spent most of her life there. After graduating from Northeast Senior High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Angie enrolled at the University of Arkansas.

Hunter Doohan's Parents Are No Longer Married

During their marriage, Peter and Angie welcomed their actor son and his older brother, John Doohan. And while Hunter developed a knack for acting from a young age, John inherited his father's love of tennis. Hunter said:

"[...] My older brother John actually followed in tennis footsteps, and he teaches tennis now. I think when I was little, I fought against it a little bit [...]."

Before deciding to become a tennis coach, John came in first at the Arkansas Men's Open Doubles in 2011 and won both the singles and doubles at the Junior State Championship. It's unclear how long his parents were married; however, his mother has been remarried since March 2, 2007.

In 2017, Hunter Doohan and his family mourned Peter's passing after the tennis player died from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS, a rare neurodegenerative disease.

But despite their parents' separation, Hunter and his brother still shared a close relationship with their mom and dad. In June 2019, Hunter took to Instagram to reveal that he was missing his late father and celebrated his older brother, who had experienced his first Father's Day.

In 2021, Angie had a "great time" visiting Hunter in Romania while he filmed "Wednesday" — co-starring Jenna Ortega, Christina Ricci, and Riki Lindhome — based on the iconic Wednesday family. Angie turned to Facebook to post pictures of her and her son at the Bear Sanctuary and Dracula's castle in Transylvania.

Hunter Doohan on His Father's Passing

In 2017, Hunter Doohan and his family mourned Peter's passing after the tennis player died from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS, a rare neurodegenerative disease. Following his father's passing, the actor has been determined to give back to ASL organizations.

"This is something I'm extremely passionate about because my dad, Peter Doohan, passed away from complications due to ALS in 2017. Since then, I've gotten involved with the ALS Association Golden West Chapter in Los Angeles as well as donating and volunteering for Team Gleason in New Orleans," the actor said.
