Susan Lucci is best known for being one of the Queens of daytime television, with roles in all major titles like "All My Children" and "Devious Maids." Apart from her remarkable career, she was happy at home, too.

Lucci and her husband, Helmut Huber, were married for 52 years before he passed away. Despite her heartache, she had to learn how to overcome the loss and move forward with her life.

Lucci and Huber met in the summer of 1965 when she was working as a waitress at the Garden City Hotel. Huber was the establishment's head of food and beverage service, and he was immediately smitten with her. He once gushed:

"The first time I saw Susie, it hit me. Still today, she walks in a room, and I just light up."

The couple quickly fell in love and married in 1968. By 1982, Huber had left his job in the hospitality industry to be his wife's manager. The pair had a wonderful marriage until Huber's death in March last year.

Huber was 82 when he passed away. He was survived by Lucci, their four children, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother. A family rep said everyone close to Huber loved him deeply and that he "lived life to the fullest."

How Did Lucci Deal With Her Husband's Loss?

Huber passed away rather suddenly from a stroke, leaving Lucci heartbroken. The pair were deeply in love until Huber's death, and Lucci admitted she found it challenging to deal with the fact that he was gone.

After he passed away, Huber's family asked that contributions be made to the American Stroke Association instead of flowers. They also requested that they be given privacy during the days following his death.

She joked that it would have been easier for her to overcome the loss if Huber hadn't been so good to her, but she admitted that he was a wonderful husband. She then realized she had tried her best to cope with her husband's passing.

Lucci believes that humor helps her overcome difficult times, and she has often shown gratitude for the friends who surrounded her in the months after her husband's death and helped her overcome her pain.

While she has been able to overcome the initial pain from her husband's death, Lucci still honors his memory and did so just two months ago during Stroke Awareness Month in America.

Lucci raised money by holding an online auction that she hoped would raise awareness for signs of a stroke. Lucci revealed these as facial drooping, arm and leg weakness, and even slurred speech.

Who Was Lucci Recently Seen With?

In April this year, months after her husband's death, amid Lucci saying she was happily single and not looking for romance, the actress was seen at a hotel with a younger mystery man.

An onlooker who saw Lucci with the man thought she might be there on a blind date. However, it turned out that Lucci and the man, who was thought to be "barely 30," were simply there for a business meeting.

Talking about whether or not she was looking for love in the arms of a new man when she had mourned her husband, Lucci shared:

"It's been 10 months. It's not a long time. It's not on my radar. … He was a very hard act to follow."

Lucci is now happily single and feels that it is far too soon to be thinking about another man. We wish her nothing but the best for her remaining years in and outside Hollywood.
