Finding an intruder in your home is startling, especially when you don't know their motives. Finding an intruder at home when you're an older woman is even more horrifying, and especially when living alone.

Marjorie Perkins, 87, was asleep at around two in the morning when she woke up to a teenager standing over her bed.

"I'm going to cut you," the teenager threatened. At the time, Perkins acted quickly despite being awoken from her sleep.

"I thought to myself 'If he's going to cut, I'm going to kick.' So I jumped into my shoes,'" she explained her action plan.

The teen began hitting her, and she used a chair as a shield to keep her at arm's length. She yelled for help out the window, but no one could hear her cries.

Admittedly, Perkins said it would've been worse if she didn't have the chair between her and the intruder. The boy continued to attack, and she was punched in the forehead, which eventually caused bruising.

After constant punching, pushing, and shoving, Perkins used all her might to kick the intruder back. She also used the chair to push him away.

The Intruder Retreated to the Kitchen

Eventually, the teen got tired of fighting her and proceeded to the kitchen to find food. Perkins kept telling the boy he needed to leave and that he needed help. The boy responded that he was hungry and hadn't eaten properly.

The old lady handed him peanut butter and crackers. She also gave him milk and two tangerines.

While the teenager devoured the food, Perkins called 911 as fast as possible. The teenager left before the police arrived at her home, but a police dog tracked him several blocks away.

Since he wasn't of legal age, the boy was taken to a youth development center. He faced charges of burglary, criminal threatening, consuming liquor as a minor, and assault.

The Old Lady Recognized the Intruder

The boy had no pants and shoes while moving around Perkins' home. He left them in a pile, along with his knife and a water bottle filled with alcohol, next to one of the window air conditioners he used to enter the house.

He broke in by moving the air conditioner's side panel and squeezing through its gap. Perkins insisted she locked her front door before going to bed, which is why the intruder looked for other ways in.

It turned out Perkins knew the boy from ages ago. He used to mow her lawn for extra money ten years prior.

Since then, a concerned neighbor gave Perkins a bat to use in case something similar happened again. She also had someone mount her air conditioner with screws so no one could tear down its panels.

In a similar story, an intruder soon realized he messed with the wrong grandma when a 67-year-old woman with 26 years of Martial Arts training took him down.
