Henry Hayter Short, actor Martin Short's youngest son, has chosen a unique path separate from his father's celebrated Hollywood success. Nonetheless, Henry excels in his current career.

For many years, Henry Hayter Short has witnessed his father's highs and lows of life, from achieving remarkable success in the entertainment industry to experiencing heartbreak following the death of their loved one.

Henry's Early Life & His Close Bond with His Father

As Henry forges his own successful career, his father, Martin Short, reminisced some memories of Henry's childhood. It was a time when Henry, a lively and playful child, would often engage in wrestling matches with his brother Oliver Patrick Short. Henry's father recalled in 2013:

"Oliver's 2 1/2 years old and I saw Ollie had Henry pinned. And I'm standing in the doorway, they don't know I'm there, and I'm thinking 'If Oliver hurts Henry I will flip out.' And I see him have him pinned and then he leans over and kisses his forehead."

When Henry's mother, Nancy Dolman, died in 2010, his father's heart was left in pieces. In a 2019 interview, Henry's dad said he still communicates with her late mom and would ask for guidance on addressing important decisions, especially those involving their children.

Oliver is not just Henry's only older sibling; there's also an older sister in the family named Katherine.

Over the years, Henry often accompanied his father to various events in the industry. One notable occasion was in June 2000 when his dad was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.

In another memorable instance, Henry graced the premiere of "Frankenweenie" with his dad at a film festival in London, England, in October 2012. This movie starred not only the actor himself but also Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara.

Henry and his father attended a Broadway opening night in April 2013. They also went to the gala presentation and "Inherent Vice" premiere in October 2014, a film where his dad starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Josh Brolin.

In July 2017, the father-son duo also made an appearance at "Take Off, EH!" an all-star benefit after-party in Canada for Jake Thomas And the organization Spinal Cord Injury Ontario.

Henry Is Dedicated to Animal Care

Henry has a regular job: he works as a full-time veterinary assistant at Malibu Coast Animal Hospital in California since January 2021. Prior to his present career, Henry delved into the realm of banking.

He worked as a managed solutions group consultant at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in Toronto. With time, he served as an analyst, advisor support, and training in RBC.

He attended Loyola High School from 2003 to 2007 before pursuing his bachelor's degree in finance at the University of Notre Dame, which he successfully obtained in 2012.

Henry is more than just focused on work—he's also adept at making the most of his leisure time. One of his notable vacations in the past involved embarking on backpacking adventures across Europe.

Henry's Siblings Have Different Careers Like Him

Oliver is not Henry's only older sibling; there's also an older sister in the family named Katherine. Henry's older siblings have chosen different paths in life and have not pursued acting.

Oliver is a Los Angeles-based producer. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in film and television production from the University of Notre Dame in 2008. Meanwhile, Katherine is a licensed clinical social worker.

In 2006, finished her bachelor's degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies from New York University. In 2010, Katherine earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Southern California School of Social Work.

Since then, Henry's sister has maintained her private practice while leading a diverse and balanced professional life. She's also actively involved with charities addressing mental health stigma.
