Man Faces Backlash for 'Tattooing' Little Kids until His Motive Comes to Light
A tattoo artist from Auckland, New Zealand, focused his market on young children by giving them tattoos to boost their confidence. But despite this kind gesture, some internet users did not like what he did.
Tattoos have become a way to showcase artists' skills, but they also carry meanings for those who get them. Some get tattoos to memorialize loved ones or experiences, while others simply get them for the love of the art.
One tattoo artist from Auckland has chosen to use his artistic talents to help boost kids' confidence, but not everyone was impressed with this at first.
Benjamin Lloyd went viral in 2016 when he shared a photo of a tattooed young boy on his Facebook. The artist had given the boy a full sleeve of skulls and roses with part of it on his chest and captioned it:
"Nothing brings me more joy than boosting a kid's confidence with a custom tattoo 50 likes and ill go to Starship Hospital and tat all the kids up."
Lloyd received a lot of backlash for introducing tattoos to young kids. People wondered what would happen if the kids grew up and realized they never liked the tattoos in the first place.
"Why ruin a perfect innocent body," remarked a concerned commente,m hoping the tattoos were not real. One more person thought Lloyd was introducing sin into the children's lives and making them glorify an evil and dark world.
But the Auckland artist revealed that the tattoos were actually just airbrushed and not permanent. Still, people thought it was a bad idea. One Facebook user said, "Airbrushed or not, this is disgusting!!!” then continued to add that anyone that liked this was "insane."

Despite the hate Lloyd received from a few commenters, many people thought the idea was cool. Especially after finding out the tattoos were not permanent.
Serval adults said they would love to have a temporary tattoo and loved that Lloyd gave these children a different experience. “This is giving these young kids so much self-esteem…” said a commenter.
Many more people urged others to appreciate the talent. Netizens pointed out that the tattoos were the same concept as face painting at carnivals and that the kids would not have such big smiles if they did not love the body art.

Another Facebook user said they would often draw on their daughter's arms because she loved her tattoos. “Kids like to express themselves and feel included, and this is a dope way to help them do that, added the commenter.
Nonetheless, Lloyd's Facebook post surpassed 50 likes, reaching an impressive 400,000 likes; therefore, he kept his promise and gave children at a local hospital special tattoos.
So far, the artist has visited Starship Children's Hospital in New Zealand and IHC, an organization that advocates for the rights of developmentally delayed individuals.
Lloyd always loves to see the smiles and positive reactions from kids after using his airgun on them. He expressed, "The kids are so amazed. As soon as they get the tattoo, it boosts their confidence."
Using his talents, the tattoo artist has not only brought joy to these kids' lives, but he has raised money and continues to reach huge amounts of likes with every picture he shares on social media.
