More About Hatcher's "Empty Marriage" to Tenney and Life after Divorce
In her biography "Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life," Hatcher revealed details about her marriage to Tenney. She wrote:

Hatcher admitted that Tenney was a great father but not the best partner. She chose to focus on Emerson and give her daughter the best life. Still, the actress was angry that she had to give her husband half of her money, yet she had supported him during marriage when he was mostly away.
She noted that California divorce law splits marital assets by half, which meant she had to share with Tenney what she had worked for her whole life.
After the divorce, at age 40, Hatcher confessed that she hadn't been on a single date since splitting from her husband. Hatcher admitted she didn't know where to go to meet prospects. She never went to bars or the gym, and all of her friends were married. The actress said her only hope of finding a man was going on a blind date or meeting people at work. However, she was against dating fellow actors.
Hatcher admitted that it was lonely. One time, Tenney took her daughter for the weekend, and the actress wished she had someone to take her out on a Saturday night.
Still, the "MacGyver" actress noted that her life felt full, and she wasn't walking around feeling empty just because she didn't have a man in her life. She confessed that she was afraid of falling in love again, especially since her divorce, and the year after the divorce was difficult and painful.
