Their paths cross at a seaside cinema in England, and Ward's character harbors a secret love for Colman's character. The film's accomplished ensemble cast includes actors Colin Firth and Toby Jones.

Even though Ward had prior experience with intimate scenes in earlier films, he admitted feeling nervous when acting alongside the renowned actress. His nervousness tended to intensify when he sensed that Colman felt the same way.

However, after a helpful session with an intimacy coordinator, they both became more comfortable and set clear boundaries for physical contact. The session made them feel more in control and reduced their nervousness when working together.

For her part, Colman had a positive experience working with Ward. They quickly bonded, shared similarities in their approach to work, had a lot of fun on set, and also humorously noted that it was a delightful experience for her as she got to have a romantic storyline with a much younger co-star.

Given their time together from the set, Ward affirmed that Colman is exactly as she presents herself in TV interviews— open and funny. He also found Colman easygoing, as she would enjoy a casual drink without being bothered by others.
