Mattea Backus Is a Ballet Dancer – Mira Sorvino’s Daughter Now

Since setting her sights on ballet, Mattea Backus has wowed in multiple performances. The ballerina often shares glimpses of her talent on social media and once received high praise from her famous father.

Mattea Backus is the daughter of actors Mira Sorvino and Christopher Backus. She is also the granddaughter of famed actor Paul Sorvino. However, despite the rich acting history that runs in her family, Mira Sorvino's eldest child did not follow in her footsteps.

Instead, Mattea Backus has received much praise for her talent as a ballerina — which she often documents on social media — and even had her father compare her to the likes of Aubrey Hepburn.

Mattea Backus' Public Appearances with Her Famous Parents

In 2004, Mira and Christopher welcomed their eldest daughter in November at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. "They're extremely happy," a source close to the couple said.

Since welcoming their daughter, the two actors have often been spotted at public events with her. In 2006, Mattea was only two when she joined her famous family on the red carpet at the unveiling of her grandfather's sculpture at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

In 2013, she, her mom, and her brother attended the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy before walking the carpet at the premiere of "Legends" in Los Angeles. More recently, Mattea and her family took a trip to Utah for the premiere of "Sound of Freedom."

Mattea Backus Has Appeared in Multiple Ballet Performances

Since setting her sights on ballet, Mattea — who got her name from her maternal great-grandmother — has often shared glimpses of her talent as a ballerina on Instagram.

In March 2020, Mira's daughter posted black-and-white pictures of herself performing ballet, and in August 2020, she shared clips of one of her performances, revealing:

"In the future I plan on creating more artistic pieces like this one through my new collective @artsforjusticecollective which will incorporate as many different types of artistic expression and artists as possible (sic)."

In December 2021, Mattea posted more content about her performing ballet. However, in 2019, Christopher Backus was a picture of a proud father when he complimented his daughter by calling her Audrey Hepburn under one of her posts of herself holding an impressive pose while in Kansas City, Missouri.

Over the years, Mattea has appeared in many performances, landing prominent and minor roles. She has appeared in performances such as "The Kingdom of the Sweets," "The Spell," and "The Christmas Party."

Mattea Backus' Family

After her parents tied the knot in June 2004 and welcomed her a few months later, Mattea gained her first younger sibling, Johnny Christopher King, in 2006. In 2009, her mother welcomed another bundle of joy, her "miracle baby," Holden Paul Terry Backus, following a difficult pregnancy and a long labor and delivery.

More recently, Mattea gained her first sister, as her mom gave birth to another daughter, Lucia, on Thursday, May 3, 2020, in Los Angeles. Sadly, as much as Mattea's family has grown over the years, in 2022, she lost her famous grandfather.

In light of Paul's passing, his granddaughter took to Instagram and shared, "I love you grandpa. thank you for everything. I just want to talk to you and hug you again. I miss you so much 💔."
