Jill Duggar Dillard, one of the stars of the TLC reality show "19 and Counting," which followed the life of a strict Christian family led by her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, wrote a book dropping shocking details about the behind-the-scenes of the show.

Jill decided to walk away from the show in 2017 to focus on starting a family with her husband, Derick Dillard. But in the ten years she spent on camera, she became a big part of the show and was even featured in the show's spin-off, "17 and Counting."

Shocking Behind-the-Scene Details

There were specific things that Jill was skeptical about sharing on the show, like her honeymoon and the birth of her children. But she had to compromise after her father made her sign a contract unwillingly.

In the book, the former reality TV star revealed that her father presented her with a contract on her wedding day while she was too preoccupied to look at it in detail. When she refused to travel from El Salvador to Houston for a photo shoot, she discovered she had signed up to film for five more years.

However, Jill was told to "trust pops." She recalled how she was constantly told that people would not understand the teachings of her IBLP faith, which she realized was a way of keeping her from questioning a life outside of it.

When it came to her honeymoon, Jill did not want the crew with her, and when she made that clear, she was told that no one would be covering the cost of her honeymoon. Despite the threats, she and her husband spent five days secluded in North Carolina and had no regrets.

Jill was also certain she did not want cameras during the birth of her first son, Israel. But she had to be strategic about it because she knew simply refusing would get her into trouble.

So she agreed on the condition that her mother and sister, Jana, would be filming in the delivery, not the entire production crew. The mother of three also spoke about her near-death birth experience with her second child, Samuel.

After having an emergency C-section, the reality star suffered a uterine rupture, which caused her to get a blood transfusion and almost killed her. Samuel was transferred to the NICU because he was unresponsive at birth, and the doctors worried about possible brain damage.

Fortunately, the doctors said there were no signs of brain damage at birth, but the couple waited till their son was seven months old to hear the good news.

Life After Leaving the Show

Despite signing off to work for five more years, Jill revealed that she only got one big check for her appearance but has yet to receive residuals from the show that she believed she helped boost its record-breaking ratings. She said she was not paid anything for seven and a half years.

As it stands, Jill's relationship with her father is estranged. Her brother, Josh, was accused of molesting five underage children as a teenager, two of whom were reportedly his sisters.

As soon as the news broke out, the reality show was canceled, and in 2022, Josh was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Jill also revealed that she had not contacted her brother. Since leaving the show, Jill has freely lived with her three children and husband.

She became a certified midwife and got a nose ring. She does not adhere to strict dress codes and has included jeans in her wardrobe. Jill enjoys a cocktail or glass of wine and is open about her intimate life with her husband.
