In breaking news, iconic Irish actor Sir Michael Gambon just passed away at age 82. The "Fantastic Mr. Fox" talent's family confirmed that he died peacefully in a hospital after a brief battle with pneumonia.

With his 60-year-long career in the entertainment industry, which saw him quickly gain popularity amongst the youth with his inimitable portrayal as Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" franchise, he quickly became one of the top celebrated actors across the globe. Throughout his lifetime, he garnered over 150 film and television credits.

The star's family released a statement when word of his passing broke. A part of their words shared were as follows:

"We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died...with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside..."

Years prior to his death, reports stipulated that the stage actor could not continue playing roles on stage because he had an issue with remembering his lines. According to a news outlet, Gambon even suffered from panic attacks back in 2009 following his inability to recall his lines during a rehearsal for one of his performances:

"It's a horrible thing to admit, but I can't do it...It's frightening."

Fans of the Late Sir Michael Gambon Have Dedicated Tributes to Honor the Late Star

When Gambon's fans around the world caught wind of the sad news of their beloved actor's passing, they did not waste time in posting tributes made in his honor. Within their dedications, some expressed their disbelief and shared their memories of the legacy the late star left behind.

As the tributes commenced, many people took to their social media accounts to share memorable moments of Gambon as the ever-popular character Dumbledore from the "Harry Potter" films. One fan expressed:

"I can't believe it, what an incredible actor he was and what a legacy he has left behind. R.I.P Michael Gambon."

More people continued to post pictures of Gambon and some of his famous quotes from the film franchise. Another fan said:

"Michael Gambon will live on in the hearts of and the memories of every single person whose childhoods he lit up by his brilliant portrayal of Albus Dumbledore. 'You think the dead we loved truly ever leave us?...' "

While others continued to post popular snapshots of Gambon in character, another fan posted a clip of a past interview he did. In the video, the late "Harry Potter" alum explained why he did not like being interviewed.

Though many continue to mourn the devastating loss of an icon in the show business industry, they also reminisce over all the joy Gambon brought them in his many roles throughout his life.

His legacy continues to live on in the hearts of millions and the actor is survived by his beloved wife and family.
