Julie Lauren Curtis was Trace Adkins' second wife, and the couple was married for three years. While little is known about the sales rep since she parted ways with the singer, she made headlines years ago for her argument with her ex-husband that took a violent turn.

Shortly after separating from his first wife, country singer Trace Adkins found love again with Julie Lauren Curtis. Their romance blossomed before the singer's ascend to fame, and at first, their relationship was going well.

Julie Lauren Curtis, her husband, and his daughters relocated to Nashville so he could pursue his musical aspirations. However, one night after coming home from work, Trace Adkins' ex-wife discovered he had been drinking — something he struggled with — and the fight that ensued resulted in her shooting him.

When Julie met Trace in Springhill, she was also a divorcee. However, in his book, the singer adds that she had a steady job and loved his daughters, Tarah and Sarah Adkins. So one weekend, they traveled to Lake Tahoe, where they said, "I do."

Shortly after officially becoming Mr. and Mrs., and long after Trace had let go of his passion for singing, Julie's ex-husband was approached by a man named John Milam, who encouraged the musician to give his dream of becoming a country singer one last try. Trace shared:

"Deep inside, I still hadn't completely shaken the music bug. I missed singin' and pickin'. I talked it over with my new wife. She was game for us to relocate."

After agreeing to relocate so her husband could chase his dreams, Julie, Trace, and his daughters moved to Nashville, where Trace also worked in construction. However, one day, after spending hours drinking, Trace returned home with more beers.

By the time his second wife returned from work, she could smell the alcohol on him. "She exploded: 'That's it. Get out of this house. I don't want you here anymore.' This was just another of the many volatile arguments I'd had with Julie," Trace revealed.

After her ex-husband retaliated, telling Julie she should be the one to leave, she pulled out a .38 pistol and pointed it at him. "Being a macho guy like I am, I tried to scare it out of her hand," Trace revealed.

He added that he also threatened Julie. But instead, she pulled the trigger, shooting the singer. Julie's firing resulted in Trace having multiple surgeries; however, he shared:

"It was painful [...].The physical pain — broken bones and surgeries and bullets and getting beat up and cut — has never really bothered me. [...] It's the broken hearts that left the deepest scars."

After he was rushed to the hospital, Trace admitted in his statement that he had threatened Julie with physical violence in his attempt to disarm her and chose not to press charges. The incident was later ruled as an accident.

Julie and her ex-husband later divorced, and in his book, Trace revealed he was happy for his second wife when she remarried. He has also made another trip down the aisle following his relationship with Julie.

In October 2019, Trace and his fourth wife, Victoria Pratt, were married by Blake Shelton. Trace has also reached great heights of fame and success in his career over the years. Since his debut, Trace has released 16 albums, earning himself multiple CMT and ACM Awards wins and four Grammy nominations.

Julie's ex-husband has also dabbled in acting, including his appearance alongside Christopher Gorham, Neve Campbell, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in "The Lincoln Lawyer."
