Whether you're flying economy, business, or first class, the food and beverages served in-flight likely all come from the same commissary. With that said, the warnings given by flight attendants on what not to consume on flights are valid for any booking class.

Social media platforms like TikTok have made it easy for flight attendants to put out informative content and go viral for these revelations. Flight attendant Kat Kamalani, who boasts almost 500,000 followers on TikTok, shared products you should never consume while in an airplane.
"Don't you ever, ever, ever consume these products from an airplane..." the stewardess said. "Just promise you won't," she added.

9. Beans, Broccoli and Onions

There's a good reason flight attendants don't recommend eating beans, broccoli, and onions on a flight – they make you gassy. Save yourself from having to head to the bathroom constantly and your neighbors from having to smell your gas!
8. Gum

You might be thinking: no gum? People use chewing gum as a way to prevent their ears from popping, but flight attendants vote against it. The reason for this is that chewing gum on the flight can cause bloating, excessive gas, and even diarrhea. Now, that is a combo you wouldn't want to happen to you while on a flight!
7. Cheese Trays

Cheese trays? Sounds fancy! Unfortunately, flight attendants revealed that the selection of cheese made available on flights doesn't come from France. They usually choose processed cheeses that don't require refrigeration – not fresh at all!
6. Yogurt

Yogurts are a healthy, delicious way to consume some probiotics, but flight attendants don't recommend them on flights. Due to airplane pressure, these yogurt cups can explode and make a mess. The last thing you want is to clean up the sticky yogurt off your clothing – especially during a long-haul flight!
5. The Entrees

If you're a self-proclaimed foodie, eating airplane meals would be considered disgusting. Flying in high altitudes alters a passenger's taste buds and eliminates their ability to taste salty and sweet food as they usually would on the ground.
Another reason to steer away from packed meals is that they've likely been reheated and cooled several times over, drying out the protein in these meals and leaving them with a distasteful texture.
4. Alcohol

Alcohol may seem like a good idea to keep you relaxed during flights, but it actually dehydrates you, which is a bad idea, especially for long-haul flights. There is generally low humidity inside the cabin, which already makes you feel a bit dried out.
Consuming alcohol will make you extra dehydrated. If you insist on taking alcohol, make sure to double up on the water afterward.
3. Steaks and Fillets

Airplane steaks and fillets are often overcooked. If you're particular about the doneness of your steak, forget about eating them on airplanes. It will always come well done.
The reason airplane commissaries do this is to avoid bouts of food poisoning. When they cook the steak and fillets well, it eliminates such risk.
2. Coffee and Tea

Since coffee and tea are mixed with the tap water from the airplane water tanks, Kamalani added it to her list of no-nos. Additionally, she revealed that the coffee makers on airplanes are rarely cleaned, and certain parts only ever get cleaned when they're in need of repair.
To make matters worse? These coffee machines are stationed near lavatories – likely sharing the same water lines and making it very unhygienic for both passengers and crew.
1. Tap Water

It turns out the water tanks inside airplanes are never cleaned, making the tap water filthy. In fact, some water tanks are so dirty that they contain E. coli and other dangerous bacteria.
Kamalani cringes each time a mother requests for hot water to be placed in their child's baby bottle. So, she shared a tip moms could use the next time they're on board.

Rather than requesting hot water from the tap, Kamalani suggested that moms ask for a sealed bottle of water and a cup of hot water. She then said to mix the formula with the bottled water and heat it using the cup with hot water.
Now that flight attendants have spoken out about the food and drinks on airplanes, you've got all the information you need to be vigilant on your next trip. Whether you'd like to follow these tips or not is up to you, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious!
