Mike's Reflections On Becoming A First-time Father

Mike and Courtney's son is named Rigby, whose physical appearance remains private. In 2011, Mike shared an interesting fact— Courtney was already pregnant with their son while filming the indie film "Absentia," in which Katie Parker and Dave Levine starred.

The filmmaker revealed that they seamlessly incorporated Courtney's real-life pregnancy into the storyline, adding a layer of emotional depth to the movie. Becoming a father for the first time profoundly influenced Mike's career perspective. He said:

"If I'm gonna bring him into this world...it's on me to make sure I have provided a stable bedrock for him to land."

Consequently, he also refrained from leaving his job, which gave him health benefits, even though he had considered leaping into the unknown. He successfully achieved this goal following the significant impact of his indie film.

Mike's Ongoing Parenthood Journey With His Wife

Mike first met his future wife in one of his past film auditions. His remarkable commitment to actors at the time and his genuine passion for storytelling were among the many qualities Kate admired of him.

The talented actress was so impressed that she knew immediately that she wanted to work with Mike, which eventually led to their marriage. The pair finally exchanged vows in 2016.

The couple collaborated on various film projects, including "Hush." Despite the high-pressure nature of filmmaking, Kate was thankful for her husband's consistent professional and emotional support throughout the process.

Mike's support was vital because it was Kate's first time working on a script and taking on a leading role in a larger film. His presence served as a safety net, giving her the confidence to embrace her roles as a writer and actress fully.

While Michael and Kate's children are rarely seen in public, there was a noteworthy instance when his wife shared about their son on social media. On Instagram in 2017, Kate shared a picture of herself smiling down at the boy nestled in her arms.

In 2022, Kate shared a playful tweet about her son's knack for scaring people. He stood next to her bed at five in the morning and whispered, "Pennywise is here," she jokingly mentioned that he was following the family business, expressing her pride in his sense of humor.

Mike and Kate's daughter is named Theodora Isabelle Irene, and she was born in 2018. Interestingly, this young girl shares her name with her mother's character in the hit series "The Haunting of Hill House," Theodora Cain.

Several fans reacted with joy when they learned about their daughter's name, noting it as "beautiful." Mike created the show, which featured prominent actors such as Michiel Huisman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Victoria Pedretti, McKenna Grace, and Carla Gugino.

His role as a dad further changed his creative processes and life perspective. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, Mike temporarily relocated with his family to Canada due to his filming commitments.

The move disrupted their life in Los Angeles as they had to juggle parenthood and work while in Vancouver. Surprisingly, even after the pandemic subsided, they stayed in Canada and embedded an "improvised" lifestyle as Mike worked on the horror series "Midnight Mass."
