This legendary Hollywood star leads a "peaceful" life away from Tinseltown after retiring. His career spanned more than six decades. The star was seen in public several months ago.

This award-winning actor was born in January 1930 to parents, Lydia, a waitress, and Eugene, a pressman in the local newspaper. He grew up in Danville, Illinois.

The future star's father unfortunately abandoned the family when he was only 13. One day, while playing in the street, his dad drove by and waved at him. In a 2011 interview, he recalled:

"I hadn't realized how much one small gesture can mean. Maybe that's why I became an actor."

Sadly, his mother passed away in 1962 before his acting career took off. The film star bagged a role in the classic movie, "Bonnie & Clyde," in 1967, which was his big break — alongside Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Gene Wilder.

When living in New York City, he used to work as a moving man. This veteran star has been married twice and has three children: two daughters and one son. He was once asked whether he had any advice for his son, revealed:

"I lost touch with my son in terms of advice early on. Maybe it had to do with being gone so much."

The father of three further admitted, "It was very tough for me to be gone for three months and then come home and start bossing him around." As for how he would like to be remembered, he answered, "As a decent actor."

Who Is This Retired Actor Who Won Two Oscars?

The actor who earned two Academy Awards in his illustrious career is Gene Hackman. He first won an Oscar for the 1972 crime film, "The French Connection," for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Hackman later bagged an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in the 1992 movie "Unforgiven," wherein he starred alongside Frances Fisher, Anna Thomson, and Clint Eastwood.

The two-time BAFTA Award winner retired from acting in 2004 and was reported to be living a stress-free life in 2020, then 90, with his younger wife in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It had been 16 years since his retirement at the time.

The Golden Globe Award winner is married to Betsy Arakawa, whom he wed in 1991. The couple met while she worked part-time at a gym he often went to in Los Angeles. Arakawa is reportedly 31 years younger than her famous husband.

An insider revealed at the time that he was in good health and still rode bicycles, including keeping himself busy with "yard work" and being a "great handyman," adding he enjoys "the peaceful life" he had with his partner.

In his book, "Payback and Morning Peak," published in 2011, the novelist credited his beloved spouse, writing that if it were not for her, it would be non-existent.

The California native turned 93 in January 2023. Two months later, in March, Hackman was spotted grabbing lunch and was said to be in good shape as it was his first public appearance in years.

He and his spouse settled on twelve acres of a piñon-covered hilltop home in Santa Fe that featured a 360-degree view. Hackman admitted he purchased the abode for its location. Hackman was seen again that same month, reportedly performing yard work at his ranch, and was deemed fit while busy with a shovel at his private estate.
