Alix Bailey has made a name for herself in the realm of art that runs deep within her. She inherited her skills from her late parents, who were accomplished individuals in their own regard.

Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Alix and her former husband, Louis C.K., maintain a significant bond due to their shared responsibility for their children.

Alix is a highly skilled fine art painter and visual artist. She earned her bachelor's degree from Bennington College in 1989 and a master's degree in fine arts from Indiana University in 1993.

She is an active member of The Painting Center (TPC), regularly hosting solo exhibitions to showcase her art. Besides being fluent in English, she is also proficient in Italian and French.

Alix, who grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, and in Italy, inherited her talent from her parents, William Harrison Bailey and Sandra Stone, both regarded as influential artists of their time. They married in 1958 and had a son named Ford, in addition to Alix.

William was a renowned figurative painter whose exceptional works of art were featured at museums in New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. He took his bachelor's and master's degrees in fine arts at Yale.

After studying art, he served as Kingman Brewster Professor Emeritus of Art at the university from 1969 to 1995. His career spanned 70 years, but he died in 2020 at age 89.

Alix's mother was a gifted painter who inherited her father's artistic talents. Sandra, whose work was deeply influenced by both French and Italian art, was a distinguished member of the well-regarded still-life painters group known as Zeuxis.

Sandra studied psychology and art at Antioch College and later completed her studies at Yale School of Art, where she eventually met her husband. Sadly, she passed away in 2021 at age 87.

Despite Sandra's passing, her beautiful paintings remain unforgettable pieces in the art community. The Painting Center recently displayed her solo and group art exhibitions in New York City.

In a recent The Studio Visit interview, Alix was asked about the influence of her parents in her own studio and the guiding principles she had taken from them. Alix replied:

"I don't really consider myself part of that tradition. Off the top of my head I would say they were unconditional love and living with doubt."

Alix Manages Both Parenthood & Her Career With Skill

Alix has successfully balanced her responsibilities as a parent with her professional career. Whenever she finished her work, she would cook dinner for her two daughters, Mary Louise and Kitty Szekely.

The mother of two said she occasionally steals moments in her studio when her daughters are occupied. She would also skip dinner if her children would spend time at their father's house.

If the kids were not with her, Alix would go to her studio and write or read art books, sketch new ideas, make adjustments to her paintings, or simply gaze at the various artworks.

Mary Louise and Kitty's father is comedian Louis C.K., who married their mom in 1995. According to her husband's show "Oh My God" in 2013, he had been "divorced for five years" at that time, suggesting that they had split in 2008. The former pair shares custody with their kids.

It appears that within their past marriage, Alix was an actress and worked in an art department. Her notable contributions include appearing in "Tomorrow Night" in 1998, "Pootie Tang" in 2001, and "Searching for Nixon" in 2006.

Since their divorce, Alix appears to live a private life and has focused on her art. She has an Instagram page for her artwork, but it's been set to private. However, she shared in her bio a link about her work in 2021.

According to her website, she "lives and paints" in New York City and Tagkhanic, NY, with her two children. In a GQ interview in 2011, her husband said, "I couldn't talk about the woman I was divorced from. She deserves her privacy."
