From there, her stardom was on the rise, and soon, her musical talents were recognized. With her mom as her manager, the young star began to make a name for herself.

The Star Underwent a Kidney Transplant and Shared Some Details about Her Health Issues

The superstar who rose to fame as a child and who struggled with anxiety and depression is none other than the incomparable Selena Gomez, 31. The "Only Murders in the Building" star has faced significant health challenges, like when she was diagnosed with lupus and had to have a kidney transplant.

In 2017, the 31-year-old took to her social media to explain to her fans why she had been laying low and keeping out of the public eye for some time. As it turned out, Gomez was informed that she would need a kidney transplant to assist her overall health, which was in decline due to her lupus.

Gomez posted a picture of herself lying in a hospital bed while holding hands with the woman, Francia Raisa, who donated one of her kidneys to her. The post showed the two women in hospital attire smiling at each other after the operation had occurred.

Naturally, Gomez conveyed extreme gratitude to Rasia, her family, and the incredible team of medical professionals who carried out the successful surgery. She also posted two other images: the second showed a close-up picture of her scar, and the last showed her standing in the bathroom. In addition to thanking Rasia and everyone involved, Gomez expressed:

"...I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made...-by grace through faith."

Gomez has always been open and honest about the health issues she faces. Similar to her post about having to undergo a kidney transplant, earlier this year, she also shared some details about how her medication and health affect her body.

The "Love You Like a Love Song" singer candidly addressed how her weight fluctuates due to increased water retention by way of her medication. She spoke about the changes her body goes through because of comments made by some about her physicality.

The video was recorded for the purpose of encouraging and uplifting others who may be facing adversities that are unbeknownst to people. A part of Gomez's message relayed:

"...I just want people to know that you're beautiful and you're wonderful...I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself, and my medications are important, and I believe they are what helps me..."

From Health Challenges to Self-Love: The Guinness World Record Breaker Is Happy and in a Good Place

Currently, the Rare Beauty makeup brand founder, who wants everybody to feel their best, is in a better space in her life. Gomez, who has often broken Guinness World Records, tying with Will Smith for most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards won, is feeling fulfilled.
