Marisela Vallejos Felix married the legendary corridos singer Chalino Sánchez in the 1980s and remained his devoted wife until his murder. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter, one of whom followed in his famous father's footsteps.

Marisela Vallejos Felix was the late singer Chalino Sánchez's wife of nearly ten years. She was a Mexicali immigrant who had worked in the same sewing factory as her husband's aunt when they met.

It was 1983, and by the following year, they were married. The couple welcomed two children, their son Adán Sánchez and a daughter. Sadly, Marisela lived through the deaths of half of her family, but she continues to honor and celebrate their legacies.

Marisela Vallejos Felix: The Night of Her Husband's Death

Little is known about the couple's relationship or marriage, but it essentially ended after Sánchez was killed in 1992. He was in Culiacán, Mexico, performing at Salon Buganvilias on a Friday in May of that year.

The show went on until well after midnight, and afterward, Sánchez left with a few young women, two of his brothers, Espiridion and Francisco, and his cousin, Carmelo Felix. Sometime later, the group was stopped by armed men driving in two cars.

Initially, there was some confusion about who they wanted, but they eventually took Sánchez alone and drove off. On the morning of May 16, 1992, his body was found near an irrigation canal having been shot twice.

Marisela Vallejos Felix and Her Kids Never Received Royalties from Chalino Sánchez's Music

Sánchez had been incredibly influential in raising corridos music to great heights; however, he only received widespread recognition after he died. "It was an epidemic. You could hear his music all over the place. So many people would play him in their cars, their homes, their dances," Felix recalled.

Unfortunately, Sánchez had sold all rights to his music to his label, Musart, with no provision for royalties later. Felix never faulted her husband. "He never thought his records would sell as well as they did or would have helped us out as much as they would have," she said.

"He never felt like an artist. He never knew the magnitude of what he would become," she continued. With the money he received after selling his music rights, Chalino bought a house in Paramount, Los Angeles, for his wife and kids, where they continued to live after his death.

Marisela Vallejos Felix's Son, a Then-Rising Star, Died at 19

By age 13, Adán was already following in his father's footsteps as a singer; many regarded him as a star in the making. He hoped to make it big, but unfortunately, he passed away before realizing his dream.

Adán died in a car accident in March 2004. A Los Angeles radio station, KBUE, held an unplanned vigil attended by a reported 6000 people, though police had to break it up since there was no permit.

Adán had been signed to a local indie label, Costarola, with six albums in his name. His mother said she still kept his and his father's belongings in their home in a 2021 interview. Felix also talked about a possible bio-series about her husband's life, revealing that a script had already been written.

She celebrated Sánchez's life and legacy the following year with a concert. The artist was in his early 30s when he died and had just signed to Cintas Acuario, a label owned by Pedro Rivera, a father of five, though one of his kids also passed away.
