Trisha Yearwood ‘Didn’t Know What to Do With’ Garth Brooks’ 3 Daughters until She Had Conversation with Him
- Trisha Yearwood had not even babysat before she met Garth Brooks and his three daughters.
- Garth and his girls welcomed Trisha into their lives, and now she is a bonus mother.
- Garth is proud of his daughters, who have all moved away from home, have their own families, and are successful.
Trisha Yearwood married her husband, Garth Brooks, in 2015. Garth was already a dad of three daughters, Taylor Mayne, 31, August Anna, 29, and Allie Colleen, 27, with his ex-wife Sandy Mahl. The country singer had to find out where she fits in Garth's daughters' lives.

Garth made it really easy for Trisha to adjust. He advised her not to try to be his daughters' best friend or their mom but to find her way with each of them slowly. With her husband's guidance, she eventually became a bonus mom to the three girls.
The singer has come a long way as, at first, she admitted that she "didn't even know what to do with three young girls." "I had a dog before I married Garth but no children of my own. I never even really babysat!" she confessed. Trisha entered Garth's daughters' lives when they were teenagers.
She started bonding with them during meals and came up with veggie night to incorporate vegetables into their diet. The girls loved this, and as Trisha recalls, "some of the best conversations happened around that table."

Garth's daughters also gave the singer a lot of grace as a parent. They allowed her to learn and be a third parent in their lives. Trisha didn't know how much children brought into one's life until she got to be part of the three girls' existence. "They were a gift that I didn't know I needed," she gushed.
Now, Trisha doesn't call herself a stepmother to Garth's daughters because she associates the name with the evil stepmother Cinderella had. Jada Pinkett Smith told her years ago that she was a bonus mom to the girls, to which Trisha agreed. "So, I always prefer bonus mom," she said.
Garth is also a stellar parent to his daughters. The country singer and songwriter spent years away from the spotlight raising his girls. People questioned why he walked away from music, and his response was, "But being a dad – there is nothing that can touch that."
Still, being a father was not a walk in the park. The singer and his first wife divorced, and his mom died of cancer in 1999. Garth moved into a one-bedroom bunkhouse with his daughters on his ranch in Oklahoma. At first, he would just stay with his daughters, and while he knew their dispositions and lovely faces, he just didn't know who they were on a deeper level.
He then learned to mix fun with discipline. Soon, his days were filled with packing school lunches, chores in the ranch, handwritten notes, and after-school activities such as school plays and soccer games. Garth integrated with the community, and other dads looked at him as just another daddy like them, which he was grateful for.
Now, Garth says kids can be "the greatest joy and the greatest headache." However, as long as they were healthy, he could handle everything else, including bad grades. Furthermore, kids are going to be what they want even if a parent teaches them manners or introduces them to God.

Fast forward to the present, and Garth's daughters have all left home. The singer says this is the period he prays more than he has ever done in his life because when his daughters were under his roof, he felt like he had some control, but now they are out there being who they want.

Garth's oldest daughter, Taylor, was born on July 8, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee, weighing 7 pounds and 4 ounces and 20 inches long. She grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma, and attended Owasso High School.

Taylor played soccer in high school and joined the Cowgirl Soccer Team at Oklahoma State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in history in 2016. When Garth filmed the A&E documentary in 2019, "Garth Brooks: The Road I'm On," Taylor was in her second year of studying for a master's degree in theological studies at Vanderbilt University.
Taylor has been lowkey with her life, but her sister, Allie, wished her a Happy Mother's Day on an Instagram post in 2021, referencing that she had welcomed kid(s) of her own. Allie partially captioned the photo, "Celebrating the gorgeous mommas in my life. I love you so much," calling Talyor "the coolest mom."
August was born on May 13, 1994. She went to high school, and since she knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue law, she later joined the University of Oklahoma and started working at a law firm.
Garth, who described his daughter in the A&E documentary as being intelligent, stubborn, and willed, was happy when she made him a first-time grandfather. August gave birth to her first daughter, Karalynn, at 19 in 2013. She and her high-school sweetheart, Charles Michael Russell, who is also her husband, had a second daughter, Gwendolyn, in 2016.
Garth praised his daughter's parenting skills, saying she was meant to be a mom. He also thanked everyone for the warm wishes they sent his family after Karalynn was born, adding, "Our children's lives have always been extremely private, and they have been endlessly encouraged to be their own people."

Garth always wants his girls to be their own persons and not just be labeled as his daughters. Allie has praised her dad, noting that he is "the best one a daughter could ask for" because he has always been where he is needed. The singer is also a wonderful grandfather, who said his granddaughter, Karalynn, was a "doll" and the glue that held the entire family together.
Allie was born on July 28, 1996. She got married in 2018 to Jonathan Roberts. The two looked glamorous in their wedding outfits in the magnificent pictures that were shared on Instagram. It isn't known yet if Allie is a mom, but she does not shy away from celebrating her mother, Sandy, Trisha, and two sisters who are already acing motherhood.
Allie, who loves riding horses, is also a musician. The country singer graduated from Belmont University with a bachelor's degree in songwriting and music business. Allie has been performing since she was 14 years old and now lives in Nashville, where she is a songwriter and a full-time touring and recording artist.
Garth is proud of how well his daughters are doing in life. He said Allie can sing anything and never gets tired as she is energetic. He added that she "seems to never wear out" and can sing all night and at two in the morning until daybreak.

Now, as an empty-nester, Garth enjoys time with Trisha, whom he calls "the love of my life." The singer is full of gratitude and feels like he is where he is supposed to be in life.
