Bob Carter and his wife, Jane Carter, had five kids together. Nick, born in 1980, Bobbie Jean, born in 1982, Leslie, born in 1986, and twins, Aaron and Angel, born in 1987. The family's life was showcased in the one-season E! series "House of Carters" in 2006.

Bob and Jane divorced in the mid-2000s. The actor went on to get married again and have seven kids in total(he had an older child from a former marriage). Over the years, the Carter family had a challenging relationship. Bob said his family's troubles were highlighted because they grew up in the public's eyes.

For instance, in 2006, there was a physical altercation between Aaron and Nick just before the premiere of their reality show "House of Carters." Furthermore, in 2003, Aaron claimed that Jane had withdrawn over $100,000 from his bank account without his consent.

Jane was caught in another controversy when she beat up Bob's alleged girlfriend, Ginger Elrod, in 2006 and was arrested and charged with battery. This incident came around the time Jane and Bob's divorce was finalized after they parted ways in 2004.

Jane also struggled with alcohol. She opened up that her drinking got worse when Bob started cheating on her. After the divorce, it got worse, especially when she was accused of not caring about her kids. Jane's struggle with alcohol exploded when her daughter died, and she has been on her journey to get sober and be there for the rest of her kids.

In 2017, the Carter family was hit with a tragedy when Bob died. He passed away on May 16, reportedly due to a heart attack in Florida at the age of 65. Nick conveyed the news on X, expressing, "I am heartbroken to share the news that our father, Robert, passed away last night..."

Aaron also shared a photo of himself and his father on Instagram, captioning it with, "My heart is broken, We are so hurt we lost you poppa way too soon." He went on to express that his father was not just a human figure to him but a real-life superhero.

After Bob died, his kids wanted an autopsy to be carried out, not to determine what caused his death but to understand his heart attack and find out if heart disease ran in the family. The children wanted this information so that they could take early measures to control or eliminate heart disease if it ran in the family.

Bob's death came five years after he lost his daughter, Leslie. Leslie was found unresponsive in her father's house, where she was resting as her family took care of her 10-month-old daughter, Alyssa Jane. Police found a muscle relaxant and medications to treat anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder next to her.

Nick was on tour when Leslie died and didn't manage to attend her funeral. Like Nick, Leslie had tried having a music career, having signed with DreamWorks record in 1999 and filmed the video for her single "Like Wow." Unfortunately, her career never took off, and when her parents split up, she struggled with depression.

Leslie died aged 25. By the time of her death, she seemed to have gotten her life back on track. She was married to drummer Mike Ashton in 2008. The couple shared Alyssa, and according to Mike, Leslie was happy and loved being a mom, but sadly, she never got to see her little girl grow up.

In 2022, tragedy hit the Carter family again when Aaron, a singer, rapper, and actor, was found dead in his bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California. Aaron had previously opened up about dealing with mental health issues and addiction. His fiancée, Melanie Martin, was saddened by Aaron's death and said she was going to have a long journey raising their son without a father.

Melanie and Aaron's first pregnancy had ended in a miscarriage. When Aaron announced in April 2020 that he and Melanie were expecting again, he said he would be focused on being a busy father and a good dad, as family was important to him. In November 2021, Melanie eventually gave birth via emergency C-section to a son named Prince Lyric Carter.

In November 2022, Melanie shared a series of pictures in a clip on Instagram wishing Prince a happy first birthday. She knew the day was going to be tough without Aaron but felt like he was playing birthday songs in heaven for their son.

In 2023, Melanie filed a lawsuit on behalf of Prince against doctors and pharmacies for the wrongful death of Aaron. She detailed that the medical professionals prescribed the singer hydrocodone, oxycodone, and alprazolam without any valid medical justification.

Melanie further stated that they were aware of Aaron's mental health and psychiatric condition but still provided him with medication in inconsistent quantities, ultimately contributing to his tragic death.

Nick and the Backstreet Boys also dedicated an emotional song to Aaron that left many in tears in November 2022. In turn, Aaron's twin sister, Angel, posted a series of childhood pictures on Instagram with her brother, saying she missed him and would carry him with her until the day they meet again.

In 2023, Jane was in shock when she lost yet another child. Bobbie, who used to serve as Aaron's wardrobe stylist and makeup artist, died on December 23, 2023. "I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time," Jane said as she mourned her daughter.

The circumstances around her death are unknown. However, Bobbie lived a private life after the "House of Carters" ended. Jane revealed that Bobbie had left behind an eight-year-old daughter, Bella, who had previously lost her father. Bobbie passed away at the age of 41.

Nick and Angel are the only Bob-Jane kids left. Even so, Nick has not always had it easy. In 2002, he was arrested for disobeying police orders to leave a club after a fight. Nick was charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting or opposing law enforcement without violence and was released on his own recognizance.

In 2005, Nick was arrested again on the charges of drunken driving in Southern California. He pleaded not guilty, but his representative said he deeply regretted the situation. He claimed the singer was on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities.

In 2017, former teen pop singer Melissa Schuman alleged that Nick raped her in the early 2000s when she was 18 and he was 22. Nick was never prosecuted for the case due to the 10-year limitation period expiring.

Nick, who had been struggling with addiction for ten years, began a sobriety journey in 2009 after he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a potentially fatal heart condition. The singer now knew that his life depended on getting sober, so because he didn't want to die, he sobered up, lost weight, and got healthy.

Nick is now a married to Lauren Kitte, and they have three kids -- a son, Odin, 7, and daughters, Saoirse, 4, and Pearl, 2 -- who he said are his "everything." Nick added that even if he weren't in his group band anymore or lost the opportunity to perform and entertain, he'd still be okay as long as he had his family.

She also shared a photo taken with just the two of them.
