Carter and his ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, shared a son named Prince. Prince turned one mere weeks after his father passed away. Now, Martin is raising him alone and sharing his father's memory with him.
What Did Martin Do to Commemorate Carter?
On the first anniversary of Carter's death, Martin took her son to his father's gravesite. The site was filled with flowers and candles left by fans who had come to commemorate the singer and rapper.
Carter's twin sister, Angel, was also present as Prince counted the candles left by his father's fans. Martin then stayed at the gravesite until the cemetery closed so she and Prince could have a private moment at the site.
Carter's family also recently installed a new headstone at Carter's gravesite. The stone features an oval picture of Carter and a script that calls him a brother, friend, son, and father to his son.
Along with visiting his gravesite, Martin shared a touching video on Instagram to commemorate Carter. In it, she used Beyoncé's "Heaven" along with photos and videos of her and Prince at his gravesite and other places where they celebrated Carter's life.
