Shannen Doherty, 52, Is 8 Years into Her Cancer Battle & 'Thankful to Be Here for Another Christmas'

Famous actress Shannen Doherty is now eight years into her cancer battle and still "thankful to be here for another Christmas." The star recently shared her joy on her podcast with her mom, as she reaches the end of another year amid her health struggle.

On Christmas day, Hollywood star Shannen Doherty, 52, expressed her gratitude to still be alive. She sat down for a podcast episode with her mom, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty, where the two spoke about many topics, including their excitement for the New Year.

The "Charmed" star also spoke about various facets of her life concerning the past, present, and future. She stressed the informative and knowledge-sharing intention of her podcast, in which she shares her experiences and what she's learned to help and inspire others.

Shannen spent Christmas with family in Los Angeles, celebrating the season and decorating their tree. What stood out in the episode was the incredible joy Shannen feels, having reached the end of another year amid her health struggle. Shannen disclosed, "For me, personally, I'm just so thankful to be here for another Christmas."

Christmas is a holiday that has been especially important and cherished by Shannen, her mom, and her dad when he was still alive. Speaking of this year, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" talent divulged, "I think this year is about just being incredibly grateful that we're here and that we get to spend time with the people that are, you know, by our sides."

Shannen also mentioned that she was able to schedule her cancer infusions in a timeframe that allowed her to recover before Christmas so she could enjoy the festive season.

Interestingly, despite her health woes, Shannen labels where she is currently as when she feels that she has been the happiest and living her life how she wants to. This instance in which Shannen has not let her diagnosis get the best of her and bring her down is not the first time.

A month before the podcast episode, Shannen did an interview where in addition to speaking about how her stage 4 cancer (which has spread to her bones) has made her reflect a lot on life, the actress expressed that she is far from being done living. In fact, Shannen said, "My greatest memory is yet to come."

Apart from practicing deep and immense gratitude each day, Shannen Doherty also leans on the power of prayer and her spirituality, which she says is her mantra.
