According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Marieangela King has labeled Cher as "categorically unfit" to manage her son, Elijah Blue Allman's affairs. King's statement raises concerns about Cher's capacity to make decisions, noting her reliance on personal assistants for daily activities and her own admission of being a "manic depressive."

King explicitly states, "[Cher] is not capable of managing her own affairs — let alone those of Elijah." This assertion comes amidst Cher's effort to control Allman's financial decisions, which King believes could hamper his recovery from substance abuse.

In response to these allegations, Allman has filed a petition asserting his competence in managing his finances. The 47-year-old musician, son of the late Gregg Allman, highlights his sober living arrangements with King and his use of a financial manager for trust-related payments. Allman has been clean from illicit substances since October 10, 2023, substantiated by negative results from voluntary drug testing conducted in January.

Cher, 77, had filed for conservatorship over her son in December following concerns about his alleged substance abuse issues. Documents filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court describe Allman as "substantially unable to manage his financial resources," necessitating an "urgently needed" intervention to protect his property from potential loss due to mental health and substance abuse issues.

Cher's filing also points to the tumultuous relationship between Allman and King, suggesting their dynamic could exacerbate Allman's challenges. However, the court has temporarily denied Cher's petition. In a detailed statement, King criticized Cher's past decisions, including sending Allman to a lockdown facility in Mexico.

She emphasizes her role as a supportive figure in Allman's recovery, condemning unethical rehab centers and questioning Cher's intentions.

This unfolding saga presents a complex picture of family dynamics, substance abuse, and the challenges of conservatorship. A hearing is set for January 29, where further developments in this high-profile case are anticipated.
