Cher Files for Conservatorship of 47-Year-Old Son: 'The Worst Thing for a Parent to Endure'
Global icon Cher has filed for conservatorship of her 47-year-old son. Fans have sent prayers to Cher and her family and said they hope the singer's adult son finds healing. The public has also praised Cher for being a protective and loving mother and expressed that the situation is "the worst thing for a parent to endure."
World-renowned superstar Cher, 77, has pursued filing for conservatorship of her adult son at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Documents reportedly stipulate that the "Believe" singer is requesting to be the sole conservator of her 47-year-old son's estate.

The reason for the "urgently needed" conservatorship is her son's alleged issues with substance abuse. Court documents also state that as a result of the alleged substance problems, Cher's son is unfit to manage his financial assets suitably.

Given the fact that Elijah Blue Allman is set to inherit financial gains from his trust before the year ends, the conservatorship is a matter of immediate priority.
The filing reportedly states that he is "currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues."

Allman's wife, Marieangela King, is allegedly unfit to adopt the role of his conservator as Allman and King are estranged from each other, and their relationship has been impacted by mental health and substance issues.

Naturally, Almman's protective mother is concerned that any funds her son gets will only contribute to his unhealthy habits, ultimately putting his life at risk. The filing also explains that Cher has repeatedly tried to get Allman the help he needs, loves him dearly, and only wants what's best for him.

When fans heard the news, many showed support for Cher and praised her for "doing the right thing 👏." Supporters also showed sympathy toward the musician and her son and called the situation "the worst thing for a parent to endure."
Others sent prayers the family's way and expressed, "So sad. I hope he gets the help he needs and is healed." Another person commented, "What wouldn't you do to save your child's life?"

Two months prior to the filing, Cher, who filed for legal separation from her son's dad in 1977, opened up about Allman's struggles with substance abuse. The "Mama Mia! Here We Go Again" star divulged, "I'm a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children."
Although, according to a media outlet, the mother and son have been through their fair share of ups and downs, Cher remains devoted to being a fiercely protective mother. Allman also expressed his reverence and love for his mom when he stated, "She's really talented. She's gorgeous — I mean she's Cher. What's not to love?"

Concerning the case of Allman's loving mother filing for conservatorship, a hearing for a temporary order is scheduled to take place early next year, and the permanent order hearing is set for March.
