Suzanne Somers’ Former Home Up for Sale for $8.95 Million Months after Her Death
Suzanne Somers' former residence in Palm Springs, a symbol of her remarkable life, has been listed for sale months after her death. She and her husband, Alan Hamel, moved there in 1977.
The late Suzanne Somers' former home, spread across "28 acres of unsurpassed beauty," has been listed for sale at $8.95 million. This news comes months after the beloved actress's death, marking the end of an era for a home filled with memories and star-studded events.
Somers and her husband, Alan Hamel, sold their longtime Palm Springs compound in 2021, moving to a new, "sexy" abode focused on eco-conscious living. Hamel, 84, emphasized their commitment to an environmentally friendly lifestyle, with plans for solar power and an organic garden.
Despite not being an extreme environmentalist, Hamel ensured their new home would have balanced air quality and reduced chemical exposure. The move was also inspired by a security concern when an almost naked intruder walked onto their former estate.
The estate, featuring five separate villas and a meditation garden, was initially listed by Somers and Hamel for $8.5 million. While details of the sale remained private, documents indicated it was in contract for the asking price. While reflecting on the sale, Somers remarked that it happened after she emotionally and spiritually let go of the home, acknowledging it was no longer suitable for their needs. Somers passed soon after.

In an intimate revelation, Hamel shared that Somers, who passed away from breast cancer, was laid to rest in a pair of Timberland boots, a personal choice reflecting their shared life. He personalized the shoes, making them a symbol of their journey together. Somers' death, a day shy of her 77th birthday, was a significant loss, commemorated by family and friends with heartfelt tributes and celebrations of her life and legacy.
