Suzanne Somers fought breast cancer for over two decades. Only a week before her passing, which was also a week before her birthday, she and her husband revealed how they planned to celebrate the special occasion.

Somers shared how she'd be with her loved ones on her 77th birthday. She wanted to be in the company of her husband, Alan Hamel, their three children, Leslie, Stephen, and Bruce, along with her daughter-in-law Caroline and their six grandchildren.

Unfortunately, she never made it to that day, and she never got to celebrate with her loved ones and eat the significant amount of cake she wanted to have. Just a day prior, she died peacefully at home after a twenty-three-year-long battle with cancer.

Somers dealt with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in 2000, and after going into remission and having to battle it on and off for years, the cancer recurred in 2023.

Through the years, the actress dealt with both traditional and alternative medicine to combat the illness. She was determined to fight for her life, no matter what it took. Sadly, the star passed away.

Somers' official cause of death was ruled to be breast cancer, which had spread to her brain. Several factors also contributed to her death, like hypertension and hydrocephalus, which is a buildup of fluids in the brain.

Before she passed away, Somers was in the company of her devoted husband, her son Bruce, and their immediate family. While they would have loved to celebrate the actress' 77th birthday with her, they instead celebrated the wonderful life she lived not only as a celebrity but as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and cancer warrior.
