Spotlight on Five Celebrities Who Rock Their Locs
While many celebrities tend to change their hairstyles throughout the years, some have stuck to their signature looks. After bursting into the showbiz scenes decades ago, a few public figures continue to rock locs.
There are a handful of stars in Hollywood who have dreadlocks. Some have been criticized for their physical appearance, but they remain unfazed.
Several entertainment stars have embraced how they look and are confident enough to flaunt their signature looks of dreadlocks. Here are five celebrities who have been rocking their locs for years.
Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi Goldberg is one of the most recognized show business stars worldwide. However, she was deemed not Black enough at the beginning of her illustrious career. In an August 2022 interview, she shut down all the naysayers who previously viewed her differently, saying:
"I've been a Black lady the whole time, this is my nose, most of this is my hair, I'm the same color I was because I haven't been in the sun. This is what I've looked like, and this is what I'm going to die looking like."

Goldberg, who has been sporting dreadlocks since joining showbiz, further said she has not changed anything on her body and has looked like a Black woman the entire time, adding people should leave her alone.
Lisa Bonet
Lisa Bonet is another public figure with locs and has been asked whether she washes them. In a June 2016 interview, the television star got candid about her hair, revealing her dreadlocks were two decades old by then. She said:
"I went for it because I couldn't stand the hours of tending and unraveling my hair. It would knot up, and I don't like going to salons. It seemed the natural solution."

Lenny Kravitz
Adding to the list of stars with dreads is rockstar Lenny Kravitz. In an April 2022 interview, Kravitz opened up about his loc care routine, saying he uses aloe vera from his garden to wash and care for his hair.
The musician explained he usually does the shakeout, where he takes the aloe, removes the skin, and uses a knife to scrape it until the gel falls inside the bucket.

Once he has enough of that, he adds water, applies it to his locs, ensuring that he gets it all the way through, and shakes it out in the sun until most of the gel comes off.
He then leaves it on his locs until he rewashes his hair. Kravitz said this method makes his hair grow out nicely while keeping it soft and his scalp moisturized. In addition, there are many other ways to care for locs, including combing them.
Halle Bailey
One other showbiz star with locs is actress Halle Bailey. Bailey briefly transformed her hairstyle while starring as the Disney princess, Ariel, in "The Little Mermaid." Ariel is known for her iconic red hair, so Bailey and her team opted to keep the signature look.

They also had to reimagine Ariel as a woman of color, so they decided to keep her hair red, but Bailey was given a new look, copper locs. The movie star had her roots dyed red, and her dreads colored the same shade. She expressed:
"I really did admire the fact that because I'm a Black woman and I have locs, [the producers] wanted to incorporate that into Ariel's look."
Damian Marley
Another public figure with dreadlocks is DJ and singer Damian Marley. In an August 2017 interview, he revealed that he started growing out his locs between 1996 and 1997 when he was 17 or 18.

Asked whether he had ever cut his hair, Marley said he had removed a few inches before because it had reached a level where it was touching the floor and was dragging. The four-time Grammy Award winner, a Rastafarian, divulged that his culture does not allow him to cut his hair.
