Paul McCartney, a titan in the music industry, has been a household name for decades. His illustrious career as a singer, songwriter, and musician has seen him rise to the pinnacle of success, but it is his roles as a loving husband and a father that have truly defined him.

His first solo album in 1970, "McCartney," released in the wake of the Beatles' disbandment, was a heartfelt reflection of these roles. The album's themes of home, family, and love, were not just passing sentiments, but a testament to the values that McCartney held dear.

But McCartney's journey of love has not been without its trials. He has experienced the pain of loss, the struggle of moving on, and the joy of finding love again.

In 2023, just a few weeks before Valentine’s Day, McCartney opened up about his role as a husband. He shared, "I see it as just trying to be good to my wife Nancy and trying to be considerate and romantic."

His enthusiasm for celebrating love is evident in how he goes above and beyond on occasions like Valentine’s Day, where he fills the room with hidden cards and extends the celebration into the next day.

His love for fun is also apparent during Christmas when he adorns the tree with an abundance of lights. But McCartney's role as a husband extends beyond these celebrations. He aims to be a pillar of strength for his wife, especially during challenging times. He takes pride in being the person she can rely on, the one who can lend strength when it's needed the most.

This duality of being both the strength and the romance in their relationship is something McCartney cherishes. He doesn’t believe he consciously chose to be this way; it's simply his approach to love and marriage. McCartney's first marriage was to Linda Eastman, a talented American photographer.

Their marriage, a beautiful journey of 29 years, was tragically cut short when Eastman lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 56. Eastman shared a close bond with music writer Danny Fields, who, upon learning of her passing, immediately reached out to McCartney.

Fields recalled their emotional conversation, "I said, 'Oh, Paul,' and his voice cracked for 10 seconds. We both started to cry. But then I couldn't stop, and he was consoling me. He said, 'Wasn't she great? Wasn't she beautiful? Wasn't she smart and wonderful and loving?'"

His admiration for Eastman was evident as he dedicated numerous love songs to her throughout their marriage. As Eastman breathed her last in 1998, surrounded by their four children, it was McCartney's comforting voice that she heard.

Their family was a blend of Eastman's daughter, Heather, from her previous marriage, and their three children together - Mary, Stella, and James McCartney. Edward Sexton, a close friend of the couple, once remarked, "Paul loved Linda more than life."

Their bond was so strong that they spent nearly every night together for three decades, the only exception being when McCartney was briefly incarcerated in Japan. Brian Clarke, a stained-glass artist and a friend of the couple, described their relationship as reminiscent of "teenage lovers," always holding hands, giggling, and completely fascinated with each other.

Four years after Eastman's passing, McCartney's heart found a connection with Heather Mills, who was known for her modeling career and activism. Their union resulted in the birth of a daughter, Beatrice, in 2003. However, their marriage was shortlived as the couple faced a storm of public scrutiny and intense animosity, leading to their separation in 2006.

In the autumn of 2011, McCartney began a new chapter in his life when he wed his third wife, Nancy Shevell, an accomplished American businesswoman. Their love story started during a vacation in Morocco with his brother, Mike, and his wife. It rained relentlessly, to McCartney's annoyance, but became smitten with Shevell.

During a downpour on Valentine’s Day, McCartney found himself at the piano in the hotel’s lobby, crafting a melody that would later become "My Valentine," a song he released in 2012. He recalled that day with warmth, "I was thinking all sorts of loving thoughts towards Nancy."

As he played the piano, he noticed the attentive presence of the waiters who were tidying up. He continued, "But it was nice and romantic, it was a perfect moment, and I thought to myself, we’re not going to stay in separate rooms tonight." In his book, "The Lyrics," McCartney discloses that he had an early realization that their relationship was destined to last.

Their mutual passion for dancing further solidified their compatibility. He confessed, "There's no denying it, I really enjoy dancing. It's something my wife Nancy and I are particularly keen on."

He shared that following a performance, when the band and crew convene for a casual drink, they invariably find themselves being the first ones to grace the dance floor. "Certain songs will just get you moving," he stated. The duo started their romantic journey in 2007 and announced their engagement in May 2011.

They exchanged vows in a quaint afternoon ceremony in London in October 2011. Shevell was the epitome of elegance in a knee-length ivory dress and shoes, the creations of her new stepdaughter and renowned fashion designer, Stella McCartney, who also designed her dad's suave navy blue suit.

McCartney's youngest daughter, Beatrice, aged 7 at the time, played the role of the flower girl, adorning a long dress under a pink wool coat, and a floral wreath in her hair.

Like Eastman, Shevell too had a fierce battle with breast cancer, but she triumphed over the disease. She later co-founded a cancer resource center called Hewlett House in the Hamptons. Although her husband is a public figure, Shevell has strived to maintain a low profile.

Barbara Walters, a distant cousin of Shevell and the one who played cupid between McCartney and Shevell, expressed, "The thing about Nancy is that...she doesn’t want anything to do with publicity. She's turned down a piece in Vogue. She doesn’t want anything to do with music."

Shevell reportedly tried to avoid photographers, expressing discomfort at having her picture taken with strangers and being the center of attention. Her understated demeanor reportedly captivated McCartney. Walters noted that neither of them were fond of a hectic social life. Neil Lane, the designer of their rings, observed, "They complement each other; it’s a beautiful miracle."

On Valentine's Day in 2022, McCartney took to Instagram to share a picture of a smiling Shevell, accompanying it with a caption, "Swing and sway on Valentine's Day." The post elicited a variety of reactions from the public.

Some comments were less than favorable towards Shevell, with one user stating, "Not for you," another suggesting, "She is not good for you, you better find a one-legged woman," and others expressing a longing for a remembrance of McCartney's first wife, with comments like, "Would like to see a remembrance of Linda too," and "Linda forever, Nancy never!"

However, some expressed their happiness for McCartney’s newfound love. One user wrote, "You are lucky to find love again! She looks lovely!" and another expressed, "Glad you found 'real love' again."

Last October, the couple celebrated their 12th anniversary. McCartney commemorated the occasion by posting a picture of them together, captioning it, "Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, Nancy. Let’s have a great one." It’s clear that despite the mixed public opinion, Paul McCartney's love for Shevell remains unwavering.
