A couple experienced issues when the husband stopped showing effort or interest in their family. The wife knew what her husband was doing was wrong but had to endure many instances before she finally spoke up to him about his behavior.

For ten years, a 32-year-old woman and her 30-year-old husband had navigated the complexities of marriage and parenting. Their family includes two children: an 8-year-old daughter they share and an 11-year-old son from the woman's previous relationship.

Despite the husband's lack of consistent engagement in their children's lives, she said he was present for the crucial moments. The wife believed that his presence during those moments made up for his absence during other times.

However, there was soon a concerning shift in his behavior, with an increased devotion to video games consuming his evenings and bleeding into the early hours of the morning. This newfound obsession with digital escapades had led to missed opportunities for family bonding, including a series of local parades eagerly anticipated by the children.

The husband's decision to skip the final parade in their town, even though they had planned to attend as a family, was a turning point, leaving the woman and their children to enjoy the festivities without him. The woman and her children had a wonderful time, and she admitted to not thinking much about him not being there.

The situation later escalated when the husband, eager to start a gaming server, told his wife it would cost $80. She agreed to pay for it with the money she would receive three days from then but refused to use her savings for the server. The man then borrowed $80 from his mother without consulting his wife.

The woman explained that this was unacceptable because of her already-strained relationship with her mother-in-law, which largely centered around money. When she confronted her husband, he tried to convince her that he had asked her about borrowing money from his mother, knowing he had not.

This conflict arose on Valentine's Day to worsen matters. The disregard for his wife's feelings and the absence of Valentine's Day gestures for her and their children underscored a growing rift within the family and hurt the wife deeply.

The emotional toll of his absenteeism became starkly apparent during their daughter's art fair, an event he missed due to late-night gaming. The woman and her children attended alone, experiencing a bittersweet mix of pride and disappointment. She shared that she and her children looked at the art and then made art together at the show.

Her daughter's candid admission that she preferred her father's absence, citing his grumpiness and the rushed nature of their outings, was a heart-wrenching moment for the mother. She later took her children to get donuts at their favorite place, which she knew she would not have been able to do had her husband been there.

Confronting her husband upon their return, the woman expressed her sorrow and frustration at his failure to prioritize their daughter's special day. His dismissive response only deepened the chasm between them, prompting her to warn him of the potential loss of his family should his behavior persist.

The woman told her husband she was disappointed that he hadn't been there for their daughter and told him not to be surprised if he woke up one day and his children had decided to cut off all contact with him because he was absent.

The woman then asked if she was wrong for telling her husband off. She received many comments on her post. One person said they thought the woman and her children would be fine without her husband as he didn't seem to bring much to the table.

Another commenter said the man had no redeeming qualities and that the only thing the woman could expect from him was disappointment. They continued by saying the woman was doing everything herself and she should leave him to save herself the stress of dealing with the relationship. Many others commiserated with the woman, but the consensus was that she was right.
