For the event, both Whoopi and Alex opted to wear colorful outfits. Alex sported a black one with blue, yellow, pink, and red flowers designed by fashion brand Alice + Olivia. It's called the "Women's Blue Melinda Floral-print Wide-leg Jumpsuit" and is currently listed at $1,035 on Lyst.

Whoopi rocked dark pink cargo bottoms with a matching shirt from Farm Rio. The ensemble—dubbed the "Shuhu Beige Cargo Shirt"—features hut prints head-to-toe and is purchasable for $114.23 (€105), which is a markdown from its original price of $228.45 (€210).

Joining the mother-daughter duo were Alex's kids, Amarah, Mason, and Jerzey Dean, and her husband, Bernard Dean. Matching their grandmother's style, Jerzey wore a beautiful silk two-piece ensemble while Amarah kept it casually chic with a bodycon dress.
Their brother, Mason, exuded cool confidence in a dark blue suit and black shades, while his dad, Bernard, rocked a white t-shirt, black jacket, and pants. He completed his look with a black baseball cap.

Amarah's post showed behind-the-scenes footage outside of the official event. Here, the entire family was seen donning white outfits, with the exception of Alex, who at one point changed from her white two-piece into a striped blue ensemble.

Alex's daughter's post showed the Goldberg-Dean family having a blast in what appeared to be promotional endeavors for "Emma & Clyde." Other snapshots showed them sharing laughs and a meal at a dining table. "WhoopFam at its Finest#WhoopFam #EmmaAndClyde #LosAngeles," captioned Amarah.
While Amarah Dean's post gave an exciting look at other happenings surrounding Whoopi's event, many people focused on pictures that displayed Alex and her mom posing on the red carpet. Some expressed disdain for how Whoopi and Alex looked.
"Not very stylish looks like she is going hunting," remarked a person on X. Another social media user noted,"[Whoopi] is 68? She looks like 80," while someone else commented, "Stylish? Maybe on planet of the A."

However, amid the vitriol, were a few praises. Directing their comment to Dean and Alex, an observer complimented, "Lookin good Baby B Alex looks amazing." Commending Whoopi, another gushed, "What a nice lady Whoopi is."
"Beautiful family," praised an admirer. Other people were surprised to learn that Alex is Whoopi's daughter and that she starred in "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit" alongside her mother.
"HOW DID I NOT KNOW ALEX MARTIN IS WHOOPI GOLDBERG'S DAUGHTER?!?!! SHE WAS SO GREAT IN SISTER ACT II??!?" exclaimed an observer who shared side-by-side photos of Alex and Whoopi posing for a picture together and a snap of Alex from the movie.

Not only is Alex the daughter of an icon, but she has acquitted herself as a successful actress in her own right. Aside from "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit," Alex is well known for "Call Me Claus," "Quest of the Delta Knights," "Strange As Angels," and "American Intellectuals."

Alex and some of the cast, including Whoopi Goldberg, were discussing the film when the conversation veered toward nepotism (the act of those with power or influence favoring family members or close friends, etc.)

On the matter of whether or not Alex's mom practiced nepotism to get her daughter the role in the movie, Alex divulged, "No, there wasn't. I've heard you guys talk about this nepo baby stuff—I have yet to experience that [...] I auditioned like everybody else."

She also joked about how she was glad that someone important to the casting wasn't there on the day she auditioned because she didn't sound as good as the other actors when she sang.
"It was a very interesting experience and I realized that I'm not good at auditions. That's what I know. Other than that, I got the job," she concluded.
