Katie Holmes' only child, Suri Cruise, graduated from high school and began her life as a young adult by moving out of her mother's New York City apartment. She is now sharing a standard dorm room with another female student.

In 2014, Suri Cruise lived with her mother, Katie Holmes, in a rental apartment at the Chelsea Mercantile. But, by 2024, the teenager had made her famous mother an empty nester by moving to college, where she is staying in a dorm.

Katie and her daughter nearly moved to a different home in Apthorp, New York City, after the actress made a bid on a prewar apartment that year. The Upper West Side home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Sources say Katie's financial advisors convinced her that renting her high-rise luxury apartment was a better option, leading the mother-daughter pair to stay put.

But, the duo's living arrangements still changed after Suri graduated from LaGuardia High School. Before receiving her diploma, Katie's daughter bonded with classmates on the streets of New York City on June 20, 2024, ahead of their high school prom.

Suri Cruise wore a patterned bodice-style gown, accessorizing with a black clutch bag, a pink rose corsage, and heels. Her date wore a dark blue suit as they posed for pictures.

Everyone was dressed in their finest clothing for the auspicious occasion.

Footage later showed the actress's look-alike daughter celebrating with classmates while wearing red graduation robes on June 21, 2024.

A friend posed alongside Tom Cruise's daughter for photos, while a male pal stood nearby on the pavement as cars drove by.

The teenager looked happy as she posed for the pictures taken by her mother in New York City.

Suri didn't waste time starting college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She was photographed moving into her dorm on August 18, 2024, with help from her mother. The pair looked happy as they carried luggage, marking the teenager's next milestone.

According to reports, the 18-year-old moved into her dorm while her father was allegedly living it up in London. The mother and daughter were seen dragging luggage to Suri's new living quarters on campus.

The campus features sprawling grounds, a tennis court, and areas for studying, research, and relaxation.

It also has the Highmark Center for Health, Wellness, and Athletics, a state-of-the-art wellness center.

Several restaurants on campus offer a variety of foods. One of these is the Au Bon Pain Café bakery at Cohon Center. The university's website says all recipes are "uniquely crafted."

Katie's daughter will have access to smoothies, sodas, cappuccinos, hot or iced coffee and teas, espresso drinks, pasta, soup, and croissants.

Suri can choose "a customized made-to-order breakfast or lunch sandwich or salad, or you can grab a pre-made salad, sandwich, wrap, yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, or snack."

The Ciao Bella restaurant is also located at Cohon Center. It offers various pasta dishes like Fettuccine Alfredo and takes "a globally inspired approach to pasta."

Resnik House's Edge Cafe and Market serves pizza, bagels, and cream cheese.

In 2023, the university enticed future students by showcasing some of the dishes available through its dining services.

If students want something unavailable on campus, they are allowed to use Grubhub.

Food trucks are also frequent and offer burgers, sandwiches, and ice cream.

Suri's mental health will be covered by the "new full-service clinical areas as an expanded University Health Services."

The services are supportive and private, offering Counseling and Psychological Services.

For those who are more athletic, a modern athletics facility is available for "practice, performance, training, and athlete care."

It wasn't clear what Suri would be studying at college, but reports suggest she might be interested in a fashion or acting and dance degree.

Suri's classes at the private university started on August 26, according to the school's website.

She is expected to share her dorm room with another female student. An insider claimed, "Suri wants the full college experience, so she is giving the dorm rooms a try and she will have a roommate."

The source also revealed that the teenager is "excited for a new chapter in her life." The celebrity child will have to get comfortable living in a normal dorm room compared to her mother's three-bedroom apartment.

In 2022, a former Carnegie Mellon student shared a tour of the freshman dorms, with the college's biggest dorm being Donner House. The four-level building hosts first-year students, and it's where 240 new students moved in.

The house is more traditional, with four floors; the first one has a huge community lounge.

The college's website states, "Despite our size, we boast a very tight-knit and caring community with a lot of spirit." Donner House is located in the Margaret Morrison Avenue Neighborhood.

Some of the amenities at the complex include a television lounge, a recreational area, a study lounge, a kitchen, and laundry facilities.

The smaller dorm, Scobell House, can only accommodate a maximum of 88 students and is only for females.

While Donner House doesn't have air conditioning, Scobell House does. Scobell is in the WHeSco community, which includes the Henderson and Welch Houses. The college's website says WHeSco is close "to many academic buildings and dining options in Resnik."

Depending on the cost, students can share with one other person, three, or lodge alone. But, one of the rooms has two bunk beds, meaning four students can share a dorm.

Most rooms come with furniture like a five-level chest of drawers, a three-drawer desk and chair, and a single bed with storage space underneath.

On September 2, 2024, Suri and the rest of the country will be celebrating Labor Day, and she will have the day off. Family Weekend falls on September 27 and 28, and her mother will finally get to visit.

But, since Tom Cruise is estranged, he probably won't be in attendance.

Ahead of her move to the campus, Tom's daughter showed her love and loyalty to the college. She was recorded showing off a red Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt in the halls of her high school.

Katie's only child looked happy in the video uploaded by a classmate on TikTok. The clip was taken during her school's commitment day event.
