Several parts of the UK have been hit by snow, prompting the Met Office to issue multiple Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice across much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and both northern and south-western areas of England.

Warnings remain in force for Wednesday and Thursday, with an Amber alert added for Thursday, November 20, 2025. Forecasters have indicated that 15 to 25 centimetres of snow is possible on hills above 100 metres.

Cities including Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Sheffield are currently experiencing freezing conditions, with daytime temperatures sitting between -2°C and -6°C. Many areas are also under snow or ice alerts, with warnings visible for locations such as Newcastle, Plymouth, and Glasgow.

Today's weather saw an icy start, followed by some hill snow clearing towards the south-east. While many areas saw brighter spells, cold northerly winds and wintry showers continued to affect exposed regions, with heavy snow in places.

Overnight conditions are forecast to remain dry but bitter, with blustery snow showers persisting in northern regions and widespread frost expected elsewhere.

Looking ahead, forecasters expect more rain and cloud to move in from the west between Friday and Saturday. Conditions may turn less cold into the weekend, though further rain is likely on Sunday, with the chance of occasional brighter spells.

The Met Office has advised the public to remain alert to changing conditions, particularly in areas affected by overnight ice and persistent snow.
