New details have emerged in the death of Texas A&M cheerleader Brianna Aguilera, who plunged 17 stories from an Austin apartment building, according to reporting by the New York Post.

Authorities were initially dispatched to the high-rise complex at 12:46 a.m. on Saturday, where they found the deceased student's body.

Aguilera's Final Hours

Surveillance footage showed her arriving at the building just after 11 p.m. Friday, heading to a 17th-floor apartment where a party was underway after a Texas A&M vs. UT tailgate.

The building's cameras captured "a large group of friends" leaving the apartment at 12:30 a.m. on November 29, 2025, leaving the now deceased cheerleader with only three other girls inside.

Austin Police Detective Robert Marshall, at a news conference on Thursday, told reporters that she "became intoxicated to a point where she was asked to leave."

The Significance of Aguilera's Phone

According to the detective, the deceased cheerleader told friends she had lost her phone and borrowed someone else's cell to call her boyfriend from 12:43 to 12:44 a.m. He added that witnesses heard her arguing with her boyfriend during the call just two minutes before the 911 call was made.

Investigators also revealed that Aguilera's phone — set to Do Not Disturb, according to her mother — was later found near a creek, where police believe it had been left since 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The device contained a deleted note, which authorities described as a significant clue supporting their determination that the death was not a homicide.

Deleted Note on Her Phone Raises New Questions

Police said the discovery of the deleted note, along with messages and behavior documented in the hours before her death, led them to conclude that Aguilera took her own life. Marshall also told reporters that Aguilera had expressed suicidal thoughts to friends earlier in October.

"Brianna had made suicidal comments previously to friends, back in October of this year. This continued through the evening of her death, with some self-harming actions early in the evening and a text message to another friend indicating the thought of suicide," Marshall said.

Austin Police and Aguilera's Family at Odds

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis urged the public to understand the difficulty of the findings, saying, "I understand how grief and the need for answers can raise intense emotions and many questions. But sometimes the truth doesn't provide the answers we are hoping for, and that is this case," adding that her "heart aches" for the family.

"I have three daughters and a son, and I cannot begin to imagine the pain," she concluded. Aguilera's mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, has publicly rejected the police conclusion, turning to prominent Texas attorney Tony Buzbee to pursue further inquiry.

Sharing a video of the police news conference on Facebook, she urged people not to accept the investigators' conclusions:

"Please don't believe this lazy investigator and Investigation! Tony Buzbee will get us the justice we need!"

Buzbee, who is known for representing more than 150 alleged victims of Sean "Diddy" Combs, reportedly confirmed via Facebook that Aguilera's parents had hired him.

"They feel certain this was not an accident. This was certainly not a suicide. The family deserves straight answers. We hope we can help them get those answers," he wrote, announcing a Friday press conference in Houston to outline his concerns.

Attorneys Signal Continuing Inquiry

On Instagram, the Buzbee and Gamez law firms announced that they planned to outline the key details and unresolved issues they believe remain in the investigation into Aguilera's death.

Buzbee, in his words, said, "Brianna Aguilera had her whole life in front of her. The circumstances surrounding her death are very suspicious. The Austin Police Department's handling of this matter creates more questions than it provides answers."

"As far as we are concerned, this is an open investigation and will continue to be open until these parents are satisfied they know what happened to their daughter," he continued.

Public reaction to Buzbee's post has been swift and emotional. One commenter remarked, "Good for you. No way this girl killed herself. Fight for the truth. 😢" Another person expressed gratitude, "I'm so happy to know u r to help this family get justice ❤️ Many Blessings 🙏." A third commenter insisted, "Good!!! News reports claiming she committed suicide makes no sense!"

As the police stand by their findings and the family pushes for an independent investigation, Friday's press conference is expected to intensify public attention on the case — and potentially reshape the narrative surrounding Aguilera's final hours.

A Tailgate Turns Deadly

The heartbreak intensified for Aguilera's family when details surrounding her final hours raised more questions than answers.

According to reports, the 19-year-old had attended a tailgate party for the high-stakes Texas Longhorns vs. Texas A&M Aggies football game before she was found unresponsive.

Reportedly, her daughter was staying at a friend's apartment on the west side of the UT Campus — the same location where she was later found dead outside in the early hours of Saturday morning, November 29.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), they had responded to a report of an unresponsive person at 2101 Rio Grande Street at 12:47 a.m. When they arrived, they located Aguilera and pronounced her dead at the scene at 12:57 a.m.

'She Was Not Suicidal': Bereaved Mother Sets the Record Straight

The official account suggested that Aguilera may have fallen from the 17th floor of the apartment complex. But to the grieving mother, that explanation doesn't align with who her daughter was.

"My daughter was not suicidal. She loved life. She wanted to graduate. She wanted to become an attorney," Rodriguez told reporters. Describing her daughter as a vibrant, goal-driven young woman, she added, "She was so excited to be an Aggie. We were looking forward to ordering her ring next semester."

Police Say No Foul Play, but Mother Isn't Convinced

"He told me they said she jumped, and then he told me that the friends said they didn't know her whereabouts," Rodriquez shared of the details divulged to her by authorities.

Adding to her anguish, Rodriguez stated that she has reason to believe there was a confrontation before her daughter's death.

"There was a fight that happened between my daughter and another girl," she asserted. "They were all staying in the same apartment that I have actual text messages of, and the detective just disregarded them." Rodriguez believes someone among the 15 people present that night knows more than they're sharing.

A School Community in Mourning

Aguilera's school community has also come forward to honor her memory and echo her family's call for support. In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, Barstool Texas A&M paid tribute to the late student, describing her as a young woman whose legacy would be remembered for her "hard work and heart."
