She vanished from Walford — and reemerged as a woman transformed. Now, the TV star is turning heads for a very different reason, revealing a radical reinvention that has fans gasping and critics buzzing. See her transformation below.

She was once the brash, beloved matriarch of Albert Square — but now, Lorraine Stanley is unrecognisable. The longtime "EastEnders" actress shocked fans last year when she unveiled a jaw-dropping new figure, revealing she had secretly dropped more than six stone after struggling with her weight for years.

But behind the headlines lies a story of vanity, vulnerability, and a desperate desire for change.

In a candid interview with The Mirror in August 2025, Stanley, 49, opened up about the moment that changed everything. Watching an old episode of "EastEnders," she barely recognised herself.

"The person on screen was unrecognisable to me," she confessed.

At the time, Stanley weighed over 14 stone. Now, she proudly reports her weight as a slim eight stone — and she says this is where her body is meant to be.

"If you look at my little wrists and ankles, this is the weight I should have been," she said. "I should be a thin person. And I always was, until I hit my late twenties."

Rather than turning to trendy diets or quick fixes, Stanley opted for something more radical. In 2023, she underwent gastric sleeve surgery at a private London clinic — a decision that changed her life.

"I [...] paid an awful lot of money and had it done. It's hands-down the best thing I've ever done — both for me and for my family," she revealed.

The results were transformative. Stanley said she could finally do the things that used to exhaust her — even something as simple as chasing her daughter up the road.

"I can play with my daughter. I used to be so big I couldn't chase her up the road. I was missing out on so much – even playing a bit of football with her outside," she admitted. "It's changed everything."

Before going under the knife, Stanley gave weight-loss injections a try. She admitted to experimenting with Wegovy, a popular jab similar to Ozempic and Mounjaro.

But the results were less than impressive.

"I'm not against [weight loss jabs], but for whatever reason I feel like I got immune to them," she said. "It got to the point where I was injecting myself and eating at the same time. I was thinking, 'What the hell are you doing?'"

That moment of self-awareness was her breaking point — and the push she needed to book the surgery. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is nothing short of extraordinary.

"I'm healthier, I'm fitter and it's changed my mindset for the better," Stanley shared. While she still enjoys the foods she loves, she's learned to watch her portions — a crucial part of maintaining the results.

Still, she admits it's not always easy.

"You don't want to overeat as you can stretch the gastric band," she said. "And you don't want to do that as you've paid good money for it." But for Stanley, the decision was deeply personal — and absolutely worth it.

"It's the best thing I could have done."

When Stanley posted a snap of her slimmer figure ahead of the Mental Health Gala in November 2025, fans were left speechless — and divided.

"Omg your looking fantastic well done you 👏👏👏👏❤️ [sic]," one fan gushed. "Looks good and younger," another praised.

But not everyone was convinced.

"To me I think she looked better before," one user commented. "She needs a little more back on but she looks stunning both ways," another added, trying to strike a balance.

Others, however, leapt to her defense.

"Well done to her. I bet she feels amazing. Who cares what people think. There will always be negative people. It's how she feels about herself that matters," a supporter chimed in.

Stanley admits that vanity played a role in her initial decision to lose weight — but her daughter was always the deeper motivation.
