According to reports, the popular TV personality shed 30 pounds so she can ‘run around and chase’ her 2-year-old son York.
Tyra once made headlines after telling her haters to ‘Kiss my fat a–‘ on her old talk show when many had a lot to say about her weight.
New reports now have Tyra explaining how she now sees such conversations about weight and the body shaming she’s dealt with.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Tyra reveals her thoughts saying:
‘I used to feel like my body was not mine, I’ve been too thin or too big. And I used to feel like I was betraying people if I lost weight.’
In fact, after that infamous talk show moment in 2007, Banks said she decided to do what she wanted when it came to her size!
With no care for what people thought, she allowed her weight go up and down as she liked especially when her son York was born in 2016.
‘When he was first born, maybe because it was through surrogacy, I wanted to be bigger for him, I felt that was love in a way. I wanted him to feel that cush and that nurture.’
Things became a bit disturbing soon after as she explained to sources that the weight became an issue health wise.
This landed her in the hospital, nine months ago, with an ankle injury, which got her doctor advising her to lose some weight to get it to heal properly.
The results are just outstanding and Banks now stands at 159 lbs for her 5’10’ frame!
‘I lost 30 lbs and she was right. Now I’m a different body type. But I don’t feel like I’m betraying people. I’ve still got a–, I’ve still got boobs!’
She also has a nutritionist who helps her eat her best so she can ‘feel her best’ and stay fit and healthy for her son’s sake.
‘I feel physically good and having a son later in life, I want to still be able to hold him and run around and chase him and not get spasms!’
The star is however not letting go of her indulgent side as she says that she ain’t giving up her love for ice-cream anytime soon.
‘I’m all about moderation, but you have to indulge. My mom and I together are very dangerous. We love ice cream!’
