He is famous for his role in Kenan & Kel, Fat Albert, and Good Burger but only a few people know that his mum was the primary force behind his career.

Thompson was welcomed into this world on May 10,1978, but he didn’t land his first acting gig until he was 15 years old. He got a part in the production of the Gingerbread Duck at Tri-Cities High School.

His first launch to stardom began when he auditioned for The Youth Ensemble of-of Atlanta, and he landed a role on CNN as an entertainment reporter for their ‘Real News for Kids’ segment. His review of 'Mighty Ducks’ set him apart and caught the attention of the movie’s director. He was later invited to play the role of Russ Tyler in D2: The Mighty Ducks in 1994, and two years after he reprised that role for D3: The Mighty Ducks.

His outstanding performance in Good Burger launched him higher in his career as he landed supporting roles in hit films like Love Don’t Cost a Thing, My Boss’ Daughter and Snakes on a Plane.

In 2003, he and his Kenan & Kel co-star Kel Mitchell auditioned for NBC’s legendary comedy series Saturday Night Live. While Kel didn’t get called back, Kenan made the cut and became one of the featured players on the show.

Today, Kenan is still very involved in SNL, which he balances with his life as a father and husband. He’s also said to be the man with the most celebrity impressions on the show.

Kenan is a testament to the truth that behind every great man is a woman.
