Kelly Clarkson gets frank on her personal parenting methods: 'I'm not above a spanking'
The country singer, Kelly Clarkson, was thrust into motherhood long before she had children of her own. She now has two step-children and two biological ones.
In an interview with Radio.com, the star revealed a parenting style that many would frown upon. She shared that she spanks her children.
Kelly Clarkson was a stepmother to her husband, Brandon Blackstock’s, children before she had her own biological children. Savannah, 16, and Seth, 9, are from Blackstock's previous relationship.
The two were just 12 and 6 years old when Clarkson married their father. A few years later she and Blackstock had a daughter River, almost 4, and son Remington, 2.
The musician has always been open and honest about her family dynamics. In a recent interview with Radio.com, Clarkson opened up about one parenting style, spanking.
“I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into and I don’t mean like hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking.”

She admitted that she spanks River. “My parents spanked me and I did fine in life and I feel fine about it. But I do that as well too,” the star shared.
Even though Clarkson does spank the toddler, she explained that it’s never done in a sudden manner. The mother of four said she actually warns River when it’s going to happen.
“I warn her, I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now. Like, this is ridiculous,'” she revealed in the interview.
It seems motherhood has taught the star a thing or two.
