The Instagram picture racked up more than 300 000 likes from fans. In an interview with Billboard, the singer opened up about being a parent.

In January 2017, Janet Jackson, 52, welcomed her first child, son Eissa, with now-ex Wissam Al Mana. Billboard interviewed the star in May to find out how she was handling motherhood.

Jackson shared that “Bruno [Mars] was really the first music my son responded to.” The star revealed that baby Eissa has shown her that the feeling of love can always go deeper.

She added that she was fortunate to be now concerned, first and foremost, with the welfare of someone else. As a working parent, early on Jackson had the challenge of fitting sleep into her schedule.

When asked about her song No sleep, she clarified that she wasn’t singing about herself at the time. The song had actually come out before her son was born.

“During and after his birth, I comforted myself with Brazilian jazz, music that always relaxes me. Then when the baby began crawling, Bruno was breaking out big and on the radio all the time.”

However, the musician reckoned that the track might have been an anticipation of sleepless night to come. She shared that sleeplessness hadn’t been all bad for her as it’s some of the times that she does her best writing.

Jackson also shared that becoming a mother was where she had found “peace” in her life. She added that she felt blessed and blissful.

The star described holding Eissa in her arms as a moment when all is right with the world. Jackson recently received the Billboard Icon Award.

On July 8, she will, again, pick up her State of the World Tour. She will appear at the New Orleans’ Essence Festival.
