Janelle Monae goes cheek-to-cheek with Michelle Obama in sweet pic

The singer posts an epic selfie following a recent event she attended hosted by the former First Lady.

Janelle Monae recently shared a monumental selfie with no other than former First Lady Michelle Obama by her side.

The singer puckered up her lips as the wife of President Barrack Obama’s cheeks touched hers when they posed for a candid selfie during College Signing Day in Temple University. The annual event founded by the popular First Lady in 2014 was part of her ‘Reach Higher Initiative’ which urges high school students to dream big and pursue higher education.

Monae appeared fresh from a performance when she snapped a photo with Mrs. Obama wearing a black top hat in the sweet pic. The event’s host appeared more than amused as she was visibly giggling in the cheek-to-cheek photo which the rapper didn’t feel the need to caption.

Monae was joined by other celebrity supporters who graced the event including Ciara, Bradley Cooper, Keke Palmer, Kelly Rowland, Zendaya, Robert DeNiro, Rebel Wilson, Jidenna, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Singer Ciara even shared a short clip dancing with the denim clad First Lady.

On her Instagram page, Obama shared a snap of the students from the event. Marking the day, she wrote,

“Happy College Signing Day! #BetterMakeRoom for the Class of 2022!

The former First Lady also dedicated a tweet to one student she personally spoke to at the event and inspired her to “keep reaching higher and never give up” in her caption.

She wrote,

"Congrats, Destiny! College will open so many doors for you. Keep reaching higher and never give up! #BetterMakeRoom #CollegeSigningDay”

This year’s Philadelphia signing day was preceded by other events hosted by Obama in the past three years in New York, Detroit and San Antonio.
