Anthony Bourdain, Emmy-winning TV host and chef, dead at 61
The television host, Anthony Bourdain, has been confirmed dead. A friend of his found him unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday morning.
CNN confirmed that the star had committed suicide. Bourdain was in France at the time working on an episode for his television show.
CNN honored Bourdain on Friday in a statement that spoke about his character. ‘His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller,’ the network wrote as part of their message.
They further added that Bourdain’s talents never ceased to amaze them and that they would miss him very much. The network concluded by sending out their thoughts and prayers to his daughter and family.

At the time of his death, the star was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series Parts Unknown. His close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, was the one who found him unresponsive in his hotel room.
CNN President Jeff Zucker sent an email to employees in response to the sudden death of their colleague. ‘Tony will be greatly missed not only for his work but also for the passion with which he did it,’ Zucker wrote.
‘It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.’

Viewers, fellow chefs, celebrities and others were stunned by the news of Bourdain’s passing. Many took to social media to share their thoughts and condolences.
John Hodgman, an author, and humorist recalled eating with the star about 14 years ago. The author remembered the television host as someone who taught him that what they found ‘weird’ was what the world deemed delicious.
Chef and Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski wrote on Twitter that he was shocked and deeply saddened by Bourdain’s passing. He sent prayers to the star’s loved ones.
