For years now, Cassi Davis has been rumored to be dating her House of Payne co-star, LaVan Davis, but she is setting the record straight. Celebritist learned that the actress has been happily married for a year now but not to her TV husband.

Cassi has had a long career spanning the 80s, but it wasn’t until director and writer Tyler Perry took an interest and cast her on his “House of Payne” series did she shine. On the show, she plays Ella, the religious, patient and loving wife of Curtis Payne, played by LaVan Davis. Their chemistry is so real that Perry decided to cast them in “Madea Goes to Jail” and “Daddy’s Little Girls” too

The pair shares a surname and so fans concluded that they were married. Neither of them addressed the rumor immediately and for the longest time, they have been believed to be an item. They were invited to a breakfast interview with TV show “You and Me This Morning,” in 2011 where the all-important question was raised. While Cassi set the record straight, telling the interviewer they were not an item, Davis lingered over the question leaving space for speculation.

It wasn’t until a 2017 interview with Black America Web that the truth finally came out. Turns out the 53-year-old actress married her high school sweetheart, Kerry Patton, in 2017.

“Let me tell you this but its Cassis Davis Patton. I jumped that broom January 11. To my high school sweetheart. We started talking and dating back in 2007 and oh my goodness we stayed connected and now we are bonded. We tearing stuff up. It’s beautiful. Our fights are beautiful and our makeups are beautiful.”

Well, disappointing news for Cassi-Davis fans, but something fun is in the pipeline - the reboot of “House of Payne.”
