Elderly lottery winner found dead inside his Bronx apartment
A 73-year-old lottery winner, Owen Dillard, was found dead in his apartment in the Bronx. His wife found out that he was stabbed to death.
As reported by CBS Local New York, Owen Dillard had won a lottery worth $50,000 a few months back. His fiance found him bleeding with stab wounds on his neck in their third-floor apartment on Beekman Avenue on Monday night.
She immediately called 911. The officers arrived at the scene and found Dillard unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The officers reported that there were no signs of breaking and entering nor any signs of a struggle.
Dillard's neighbor Kayla Pagan said that his family was devastated by the news. She expressed the shock she experienced on learning about his death. She said that Dillard was loved and respected in the neighborhood.

A resident of the neighborhood, Taqueria Thomas, shared that Dillard's death was a very scary experience. Thomas also shared that Dillard always had a smile and was never rude or disrespectful towards anyone.
The detectives carried out an investigation throughout the building overnight to find out clues that led to Dillard's apparent murder. They did not find any sign of a forced entry nor any motive for the killing.
Dillard's nephew, Shabbaz Muhaymin, said that everyone in the neighborhood knew him. He was 73 years old and no one had any motive to kill him.
Muhaymin also revealed that Dillard had won the lottery several months back and kept some money in the house. The last time Dillard won a big sum was half a year back.
Dillard's stepson told CBS that he had won several small lotteries in the past few months and lent some money to people who needed it urgently.
Resident Jose Sanchez shared that Dillard was good to everybody and he got along well with everyone. The police offered a reward of $2,500 to anyone who could lead them towards the murderer of Dillard.
