American Idol winner Scotty McCreery ties the knot with Gabi Dugal

Scotty McCreery, the famous country singer, finally tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Gabi Dugal.

McCreery and Dugal, who have known each other for most of their lives, married in the North Carolina mountains on Saturday, June 16, 2018, in a private ceremony with friends and family.

Although the couple didn't share any photos on their personal Instagram pages, People was able to snap some shots of the happy couple on their special day.

200 guests attended the romantic ceremony and, in an exclusive interview with the publication, McCreery confessed that he was a very happy man and that a story like theirs doesn't 'happen too often nowadays.'

The American Idol winner dated Dugal, a registered nurse, for six years and composed This Is It, his hit single, to honor their relationship, which describes it perfectly.

According to McCreery, marrying Dugal felt like the next step and that she was the right woman for him, considering that they support each other's dreams.

The couple's first dance was baptized by Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love, one of the most romantic songs ever recorded, and they celebrated their union with very intimate and personalized vows.

Unlike most weddings, McCreery and Dugal's didn't have a cake; instead, they served several pies. The menu was inspired by the Bride's Louisiana roots, with Cajun dishes being made available for the guests to dig in.

As for the decoration, Dugal, who currently works at Duke University Hospital, revealed that she wanted to keep it 'very classic,' which was why she chose a color scheme consisting of black, white and gold.

The newlyweds will be spending their honeymoon in Tahiti before returning to the United States to settle in their new home. They never lived together before so it will be a brand new experience for both husband and wife.
