Meghan Markle's father reveals warning to Prince Harry before giving permission to marry daughter
Thomas Markle, the father of Duchess Meghan Markle, shared several details about the relationship his daughter and Prince Harry had when it all started.
During an interview Thomas had with Good Morning Britain, he opened up about a couple of aspects that nobody knew regarding Meghan and Harry’s relationship and his influence on it.
One of the things Thomas said was the time when Harry talked to him and asked for Meghan’s hand. According to Thomas, his daughter told him first that she would marry Harry but that he wanted to ask for the retired lighting director’s permission first.
The couple called Thomas together and Harry asked for Meghan’s hand. The proud father said: ‘You are a gentleman. Promise me you’ll never raise your hand against my daughter and, of course, I’ll give you my permission.’
Apart from that, Piers Morgan, one of the anchors of Good Morning Britain, asked Thomas about the conversation he and Meghan had a few days before the wedding took place, when he told her that he couldn’t assist.
Thomas revealed that it was difficult and that he was sure that Meghan cried, but that she and Harry understood the situation he was going through (medical emergency) and told him that the important thing was that Thomas got better.
Apart from that, Thomas, who doesn’t have the best relationship with Meghan, revealed how he found out his daughter was dating the Duke of Sussex.
According to him, the first time Meghan called him, she just said that she had a new boyfriend. The next call, her daughter gave another hint of who that boyfriend was by saying that he was British. For the third call, Meghan finally told him: ‘he is the Prince. It’s Harry.’
Thomas added that he and Meghan used to call him ‘H’ because nobody could know that they were dating at that point. Now, many months later, the couple is happily married and living together in London.
