Duchess Meghan’s dad says she 'cried' over him missing the Royal wedding

Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle’s father, was very emotional when he learned he won’t be able to attend his daughter’s wedding.

Thomas shared that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, cried when he told her and Prince Harry that he was going to miss the chance to walk his daughter down the aisle on her big day in May.

In an exclusive interview with Good Morning Britain on June 18th, Thomas shared, “They were disappointed. Meghan cried, I’m sure — she did cry.”

The father of the newest addition of the British Royal Family continued that the couple asked him that he took care of himself since they were both worried about his health.

For Meghan and Prince Harry, the most important thing for them was for Thomas to get better, according to him.

Prior to the royal wedding on May 19th, Thomas had announced that he was going to attend the wedding if his doctors would let him travel since he had allegedly suffered a heart attack.

Although, just two days before the wedding, Meghan released a statement through the Kensington Palace confirming that her father will be missing the ceremony because of health problems.

During the interview, Thomas admitted that he had heart surgery in May, but insisted that he really wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle.

He also expressed how honored he was that Prince Charles took his place instead, but Thomas said he wished that it was still him holding his daughter’s hand as they walked side by side towards the altar.

Thomas watched the royal wedding on television, much like everybody else, at a private bed and breakfast his friend arranged for him.

During the interview, he confessed, “The unfortunate thing for me now is I’m a footnote in one of the greatest moments in history rather than the dad walking her down the aisle. That upsets me somewhat.”

He continued to say that he was very emotional but still, he remains to be proud of his daughter.

As for his new son-in-law, Thomas praised Prince Harry for being a “great” and “interesting guy.”

He also revealed the details of how the prince asked to marry Meghan. Thomas shared that Prince Harry asked for her hand over the phone.

Talking about Meghan entering the royal life, Thomas said, “My daughter has been a princess since the day she was born.”
