Lionel Richie's daughter shares sweet throwback photos ahead of his birthday

The young model took to social media to share a sweet photo and message in celebration of the special holiday.

19-year-old Sofia Richie is the youngest child of Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander. Although she may be causing her father some grief in her choice of much-older boyfriend Scott Disick, the teenager still dedicated the day to him.

On Father's Day, Sofia took to Instagram to share a sweet post in honor of her famous papa.

The post featured a stretch of film with the same six photos of Lionel holding his daughter when she was just a baby girl.

"Happy Father’s Day to my best friend! I love you more than I can explain @lionelrichie," she captioned the shot.

Lionel celebrates his birthday on June 20, just 3 days after Father's Day. He turns 69 this year.

Lionel and Alexander also share son son Miles Brockman Richie, who is 24 years old.

The singer informally adopted his oldest daughter, Nicole Richie, when she was two, and made it official when she was 9. At that time, he was married to Brenda Harvey-Richie.

Sofia is very vocal with her love for her family, taking to social media often to share her affection for them on special occasions.

Just the day before Father's Day, Alexander celebrated her birthday. Sofia shared a lovely photo of herself as a young girl with her mother and her brother for the occasion.

She kept the message sweet and simple, saying just: "Happy birthday Mom! I love you so much."

Sofia also took to Instagram on Mother's Day in May.

The sweet photo this time was a black and white image that showed her beautiful mother holding her as a baby.

"Happy Mother’s Day to my best friend! You are the love of my life, thank you for being you!" she wrote on the post.
