Blake Shelton opens up about 'The Voice' and how it changed his life
Blake Shelton, one of the most recognizable faces in the country music community, revealed that The Voice helped him reach a new level of fame and that getting together with Gwen Stefani has been a bliss.
Shelton was picked up by NBC to be on the show in 2011. At the time, having already an established career as a country singer, the 42-year-old believed that the American people were already acquainted with who he was.
But, during an interview with Sunday Today, the singer revealed that being on The Voice as a coach brought his confidence down a notch and made him realize that he wasn't as famous as he thought.
While on The Voice, Shelton went through a particularly tough time regarding his divorce with Miranda Lambert, which was highly-publicized considering his position as a coach on NBC's hit show.

He then started dating Gwen Stefani, the popular pop star, who was also facing a similar situation with her husband, Gavin Rossdale. They found comfort in each other's arms even though, according to Shelton, they didn't believe it would last.
“I think in the back of our minds we both kind of thought, ‘This is a rebound deal because we're both coming out of a pretty low spot in our lives and we're kind of clinging to each other to get through this.'"

Shelton also confessed he had convinced himself that being a father wasn't meant to be and that meeting Stefani's children, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo, changed his opinion.
The country singer loves spending time with the children, who have grown to love him as a father. In January, Shelton tried to teach Kingston how to drive a pickup truck, but the duo ended up getting stuck in the mud and Stefani couldn't help but share the video with the world.
